So far, this is a great little gemstone tester! I usually get the Diamond Selector 2, but wanted to try this one since it's a little different & appeared to have a smaller tip, which it does!I love the informational page inside! This has a blacklight too & on the instructions page, it tells you the typical colors that different genuine AND synthetic gemstones glow under the light. I love how it calibrates itself based off ambient temperature! With the other thermoconductive testers, you have to know the temperature, ct size etc & adjust the number accordingly. This one seems to do it for you, which has worked out (been accurate) so far!The 1 paid to try it review that said the only complaint was how difficult it was to put the battery in, definitely had merritt, as the battery is super snug. However, I think that gives this one a bit of a positive edge over the others, since some of the biggest issues I've had with others has been the light flickering with moving the tester because you could tell the battery was shifting, as well as of course the larger sized tip.I'm glad I took a chance on this one with only 3 reviews.

Absolutely love it. I had to sell some of my jewelry and wanted to make sure that I was not going to be told that it was a fake diamond and be swindled. This is easy to use. Also, was able to tell a couple that came to our house that her supposed diamond ring that she received from her from her fiancé was fake. Made for an interesting get together.JUST KIDDING!

This tester tested every stone I tried as a diamond. I first tested with a diamond and it tested as diamond. Great, works great! Then I tested a CZ and it tested as diamond. Oh,oh... So I tried a ruby, a blue star sapphire, glass. They all tested as diamond. Returned it.

I fought with the 9V battery trying to fit it in the tester and almost gave up. If you buy this the battery is nearly impossible to get it to fit in. If I had it to do all over again I would not buy this tester.

This has worked like a charm. Directions were easy to follow and I've successfully tested every stone in the house. I even took it to a jewelry show recently to test items before purchasing. Highly recommend.
