This detector is very easy to use, just install the battery, turn it on and leave it there. The number would shows up after 24 hours. It would keep updating as well if you just leave it working.

To measure the value of radon in my new house I got this detector and put it in the basement for 2 days. It detected the radon value read as 0.78. The value is the same as the one I detected with another radon detector I rent from school library. So I believe it is precise and reliable.

I'll admit, radon was not on my radar. I never even thought to see if there was a monitor you could place in your home rather than calling out a professional company to check for radon. When I saw this option, I knew I should check it, but I was afraid to find out a new expense my house may need. This device is extremely easy to use. You just add the batteries, turn it on and let it sit for 24 hours. It does provide a reading after 4 hours, but after 24 hours you will see the long period average and the short period average. The product page states that this comes with a holder so it can stand alone or be hung on the wall, but I did not receive a holder. Instead, I just lean it against a wall. A holder would have been great. The instructions tell you where should and should not place the monitor.I love that this continuously monitors your home. When the levels are at 2.7 pCi/L or over the numbers will flash to make it more obvious that there is an issue. The flashing is helpful if you remember to look at it, but I wish it had a little warning light to be more obvious. There was a card that came with this detector that tells you how many cigarettes per day different pCi/L readings equate to, but I had to search the Internet to learn more about what levels were safe. I learned that WHO recommends action at 2.7 and that EPA recommends action at 4.0. Of course, when I tested my house levels, they were higher than they should be. Not alarmingly so yet, but not great either. I learned that the levels fluctuate quite a bit during the day and I learned how much of a difference it makes when I get a little ventilation in the house. I tested after winter when everything had been closed up with little air flow. I realized that once I opened the windows and got a little air flow going, the numbers came down quite a bit. Since I had no tests to compare this to and I wasn't sure how accurate it was, I tried it at a couple other homes as well. It is great that this device is so portable and can be taken anywhere with you. All you need is 24 hours to get the results. Unfortunately, every house I tested came back higher than it should, but with varying degrees, so I think it is accurate. I will attempt to find somebody that has a very recent professional test to compare the results as well.I think this is a great device to have in the home. It is very easy to use and easy to read. It provides continuous monitoring for your home and can provide you with peace of mind, or let you know when you need to take action. It can easily be moved to different parts of the home, or even to different homes.

A few days ago, I saw the news about radon gas, so I simply checked what it was. I've never heard of it before, but don't take it personally, because excessive radon gas can cause lung cancer! This detector is good because radon values can change and you need a simple one at home.

The measurement of radon by this tool looks accurate when compared to a mail in test I've also done. The short term measurement on the devise fluctuates based on weather and other conditions which is accurate, but the long term measurement doesn't make sense. I've had elevated radon measurements due to very cold weather for a couple weeks, then a few days of slightly warmer weather with slightly better radon measurements, but somehow the long term measurement is now lower than the short term measurement, which makes no sense. My opinion is the long term measurement is useless on this device.

I followed the procedures in the documentation, they were kind of confusing. I put 3 new Energizer batteries in, left the meter in my baseman for over 24hrs, the screen was off and nothing I did or pressed would turn on the screen, the instructions say to not turn it off or you will loose the data, I tried pressing the mode button, screen would not turn back on, even turning the power button on/off, I took out the batteries and put them back in then the screen turned back on. I installed another 3 new batteries and tried again, power button on for the 24hrs, I return back to the unit, same issue, completely dead, I tested the batteries they are new batteries. Must be a defect with my unit, returning it.
