With low end Martin strings up to 7-8 dollars I decided to give these a try.I play finger style at a pro level so I'm used to the feel of extra lights, and these are light, and have a little more tension, but I'm sure I'll get used to the feel. I have many guitars, ranging from a Martin D-45 down to a Martin DX-1 that I play everyday. Don't laugh at the DX-1; my luthier reworked it and it now sounds as good as a D-28. It was due for new strings, so it became the test case. The sound on the DX-1 dreadnought is bright and well balanced with good volume. They stay in tune. They've only been on for 24 hours with an hour of playing time, so I can't speak to their longevity. I change strings about once a month, so I don't think that will be an issue. The set comes in a sealed plastic pouch, with a paper pouch inside that. They appear to be well made. Each string has an easy to remove paper label so there's no guess work as to which is which.Bottom line? I like them! I will buy them again. At $3 a set delivered to my door they are a bargain.

Ok, there's pros and consPros:Budget friendlyFair tone *Feels goodStays in tune very wellCons:Bright, almost a bit too much and the midst are high tooA bit too scratchy in the winding. Like, bar chord to bar chord you better let go. SWOOOOOSH!So, too be fair let me split the difference. If you are putting them on an electric acoustic, then your amp and EQ can round them to the sound that you want easily. And you save money.Dreadnought, unplugged acoustic guitar will sound empty-likeI would not recommend putting these on a loud guitar like a Martin because you will lose the soul of what you like.I know my review sounds a little mixed but I will continue to buy these because they suit my needs because I plug in.Weigh out your decision

I purchased these strings hoping they could be an affordable replacement to my elixir strings. I'm a professional musician and play 5 days a week in Florida so I rely on using coated strings and thought I would give these a try as they are much more affordable but they are a full sounding string with no visible coating that I can see and broke two strings the first two days that I tried them. I have not broke a string in months actually so I'm not sure if I was playing unusually aggressive or if it's a strain quality issue?

I've been cleaning and tuning donated guitars for the Boys Club and been getting different brand names of string. Needless to say, getting different brands comes with different price and sounds. I picked this string number one its price, and they're coated. I just strung-up ten guitars and the strings tune very easy. They seem to hold their tension and sound ok. Personally I think they sound too tinny but I wasn't buying for me. Enjoy

These strings sound and look great. I've been playing music for 20 years and I was really impressed... I bought the 10 pack because guitar strings are going up and at $3 a set I figured I'd better jump on em. The only real skepticism I had was the gauge; because they're so light I was worried they'd be super twangy, but after watching a couple YouTubers try them out I decided to give 'em a try. I'm glad I did. I've installed 3 sets on three very different guitars and they sound great on all of them. They're bright but not twangy, and the bottom end it's still deep and full. Great set of strings. You'd just about have to be insane to pay $30 for 2 sets of Elixir strings when you can get 10 sets of these for the same money. I've personally always loved and recommended D'Addario strings but I paid over $8 for the last set of those I bought. As long as they start affordable, I'll be recommending these Donner strings going forward.

I've used these strings before and have been pleased with both quality and sound. However this batch has shown defects on the ball end. On a normal acoustic with pins this probably would not have been an issue, but I was actually putting them on a Donner silent guitar that is headless and is strung up from the headstock to the bridge where the turning machines are.Update. These folks take care of thier customers. They actually read my review and reached out to me to fix the issue. Great company to deal with.

Having said that I think I paid roughly $20 for five on prime day. At $26 for 5...maaaybe. Tbh I'm pretty sure you can get daddarios for 3 for $20 from time to time.Id say it like this. Buy ONE set of these and keep daddarios as your mains these as a backup set for months you might not play as much... you'll never regret it. They sound pretty good, wouldn't call them phosphor warm or 80/20 bright theyre a decently balanced, consistent strings that on my Larrivee...stayed in tune after the first restring so...on a decently maintained, solid.wood guitar they work fineEdit: update- I still do not regret buying a 5 pack of these. I've broken a number of high e strings and these are always there, waiting to step in as the 'sixth man' as a replacement single string...one other caveat thoughThese are NOT durable, here is what I'd recommendIf your guitar has a midrange scoop, like my Godin Multiac which isn't a real acoustic but something like that, a Taylor T5, a Fender freeway acoustic or acostasonic- the sonic profile of these strings is PERFECT for those types of guitars OR, of you just want to replace the wound strings for couch playing in whatever guitar sits out more regularly....For a Martin, or Alvarez, anything that has naturally boosted bass...they'll do the job, but MOST guitars with cedar tops, laminated tops, etcThese will flat out sound bad. They are good for the aforementioned purposes, but they are like anything, they don't work (sound wise they just sound thin unless the top/soundboard of your guitar is truly luthoer grade) on the cheapest of the cheap guitars...maybe stay away. Just boil your strings and get Ernie ball earthwounds for the same price per pack..Donner makes great stuff but everything has spot. On certain guitars, these strings can be a square peg, sonically. Not a great strummer either, I'm a 100%fingerstyle player and these don't have nearly enough bass for a Neil Young song baseline
