I purchased this because the upstairs neighbor would keep the communal door open. They would keep it open in the coldest of temperatures. Causing my apartment temperature to fluctuate. The woman upstairs did it on purpose. Every time I would come home, each door would be opened completely to the wall. This is a an awesome product. Affordable easy to install. The lady upstairs is beyond upset that she can't keep the door open Anymore she has no more control and it's killing her inside. Priceless. Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Lmao

Great for what I needed it for. My do knows how to open the backdoor but not how to close it. So this was perfect, he opens the door and it closes behind him. I gave it a 4 star for two reasons. Although it can be adjusted it can't be fined tuned, my dog opens it just enough that the door will close however sometimes if he doesn't open enough it won't latch shut. If I adjust it to the next hole, then it will be to strong and won't let him push the door enough to open. The 2. Is that the "guide" that prevents the arm from scratching your door only screws in. My door is metal so I had to drill would have been nice for just some type of adhesive. And the spring inside is a little squeaky.. Other than that works great.

I got fed up with our mailman and delivery people leaving our gate open. Someone told me about getting a gate spring but after looking them up I was not convinced plus they were an eye sore. Then I came upon this door closer. The description stated door and not gate but logic told me it should do the job just as well. I used sheet metal screws instead of using the enclosed screws. It works great. I love the design that is simple and very functional. Not like those long springs that are an eye sore. this design is compact and hardly noticeable. I also like that it comes in black because it blends in with the color of the fence. Now I do not have to worry with my fence being left open by our mailman and delivery persons.

My experience was not as great as others reported. Once fully installed, it does work. Two main complaints: first, the Phillip head screws provided are chintzy — the indents are not deep or strong, and when tightening into wood, 2 different screwdrivers had trouble gripping and turning the screws even though I had pre-drilled holes.Second issue: it’s advertised as having “adjustable†tension. Not exactly: you can select a different hole to put the arm in, choosing one with “less tension.†But the difference is so great that the closer doesn’t really work to close the door with the “less tension†hole.. I had no choice but to use the one with more force than I wanted. I did a work-around by putting washers under the “door side†of the closer, effectively tilting it away from the door. This lessened the force applied to the door and stopped the slamming.
