I bought a new BBQ grill and the thermometer it came with broke as I was installing it. Putting the grill together took a long time, and getting a replacement from them would have meant returning the whole thing, so I opted to just buy a replacement thermometer.This installed the same as way as the original, but was built better. Using a very accurate external thermometer with a lead, this thermometer measures exactly the same.It was inexpensive, installed easily, and works perfectly and accurately!

UPDATE July 2020 - Well had tried some pizza at high temp 700 and there grease on the heat block from a previous smoke on a brisket and well, a little fire later and the temp exceeded max. in the next few cooks I noticed the thermometer reading about 40 degrees low using two separate digital thermometers. THe nice thing is that tyou can adjust these using a small flat head screwdriver, using a boiling water to test and was able to use the screw driver to adjust the thermometer to match the boiling water temp. Reinstalled and seems to be working ok. Not taking a chance, though ordering a spare. Price is up about $6 but its still a good price regardlessI bought this as a replacement for my Pit Boss Kamado Cermaric Grill that I purchased at Costco over a year ago. The look was similar as were the measurements. Turns out it is almost an exact fit (see pics)- no fiddling around trying to jury rig a new gauge to fit. The gauge that comes with the Pit Boss is pretty horrible and always was about 100 degrees off the digital one that I use and finally just stopped working all together (stuck on 400 degrees). So instead of going to Tel-Tru, paying a much higher price, and per the reviews didn't seem to be a good fit, I decided to give this one a try. I put it up against the boiling water test right out of the box and it read right at 212 degrees. Easy install - 2-3 minutes, no tools required. We'll see how it goes long term, but at this point if you have a pit boss and $10 this is a fast, cheap, and more accurate replacement for the original.

Doesn’t tell you what size hole to drill. I used a 23/64 drill bit and it was the perfect size. It’s a pretty big hole. Seems to work great. My gas grill didn’t have a temp gauge on it.

I used this thermometer to replace the one on my old analog Masterbuilt electric smoker. This one is bigger, the numbers are easier to read, it is color-coded, and most importantly it can be calibrated! I tested it against my thermpro wireless thermometer, and it was initially reading 20 degrees higher. I was able to tune the adjustment screw to get it matching perfectly. I am planning to use my electric smoker as a holding cabinet, and that will be much easier to do when I don't have to dedicate another thermometer to it. It definitely deserves five stars from what I have seen so far, but I will come back and update this review if I have any problems or notes to add.

All I had to do was drill a hole in the lid of my Weber grill and install the thermometer. It really helps me maintain the right temperature for smoking a brisket for 8 hours using the charcoal snake method. This in combination with a meat thermometer, I’m always getting great results.

+1 Star for being easy to read and having big numbers (mine is an older model that didn't have the bright coloring, which I think is even better!)+1 Star for being pretty accurate (until it didn't!)+1 Star for being waterproof (mine never got foggy or anything)-2 Stars for only lasting 3 years (it started to stick at about 3 years latter!), but after reading some of the other low rating reviews, theirs only lasted a few uses before it started to stick, so at least mine lasted longer than theirs!Currently, there is another listing for two gauges for one dollar less than this one, which the face looks exactly like this one! Also, there is a lot more threading on this one, which now makes taking this old one off a pain, since it has now rusted and I turned the wing nut as far as I could before it got stuck, so now I had to spray some rust remover on it and wait for it to do its thing before I can completely remove it. The other one for a dollar less and has two gauges has a much shorter threading, so when it comes to replace it, it will be much easier and quicker to remove. If BBQ grills had covers as thick as this one allows for, you couldn't lift the cover because it would be so heavy!!!

I tested this for accuracy in some boiling water and compared it to my digital thermometer. It was very accurate, only varied from the digital thermometer by 5 Degrees F.Most surprising is that it comes with a little note in the box telling you that this has been calibrated.It actually has a screw at the end of the stem which allows you to calibrate the thermometer which is great.Have not installed it yet in my weber kettle, will let you know how that goes.Dec ‘21 - update. Installed nicely in my Weber kettle and works great.
