We have an awkward, long (78 in) narrow window (20 in) in our bedroom in the basement. We needed something to block the light, but not be bulky, or need layers to keep light out. In the past we were using wood blinds (bulky) covered with a valence curtain (could never find a blackout valence).We took a chance and ordered these (2) when we repainted our bedroom last week. We ordered the white ones. They look/work wonderful!! No light gets in, they don't stick out, easy to open/close and were extremely easy to install. They slide a little bit so you can scoot them tight together. A bit pricey but the quality and ease made it worth it. The curtains look smooth, stylish. Highly recommend, great product!!!

My husband is a light sleeper and wanted blackout shades to block a bright light our neighbor has in their yard at night. They are darkening but not fully blackout. He has been taping the sides to the window frames and then we still usually have a sheer and a lighter curtain over the top for decorative purposes but he isn't happy with the level of light they still let through so we might have to move them to another window just for privacy purposes and find something else that's more room darkening.The installation was not the easiest, but manageable. It does allow for either a wall install above the window or you can attach it to the frame at the top. We opted for wall so that there was enough space for a good grip as it wouldn't have been as strong in the window and we would have had to drill in the window frame. Since we are deciding to move it, I'm glad we can patch the wall as that's easier than the frame.The shades do have a pull on the back. Once you give it a tug, it slowly rolls itself back up which is alright, just not super fast and sometimes it needs a little push to keep rolling, though my husband says it's possible to get the spring to load a little tighter. Maybe we can play with that when we move it.They're alright and do look nice so we're keeping them, but if you want something that blocks all the light, look elsewhere.

This is a beautiful room darkening shade. Once summer hit, I had a hard time getting the baby to go to bed in a bright room at 8pm so I bought these to see if they would help. They definitely block out a lot of the light and we were able to get the baby down at her normal bed time. I did the inside mount and it was very easy to attach to the window frame. I don’t open it very much but it seems pretty stable when pulled open and shut. The material is a nice quality and should definitely hold up

These shades are beautiful to let light in but provide privacy at night. Easy to use! Got a great price on some open stock but regular price was also affordable. Easy to install too! Overall a great buy!

I have these on big high windows in my kitchen. I Like the ease of use, but were a pain til we figured out how to install themlI love the way they keep the room cooler or warmer when open or closed.

Work as intended but in the future I'll buy the ones that go up from the very bottom instead of a handle in the back
