We need to filter the syrup we make from our maple trees. This style of funnel is designed to work with filter paper, letting liquid pass through across the entire surface. I've meant to find one of these for years and am glad I finally did. I'm just using it with coffee filters that I've cut into circles, but it did the job.

The two halves don’t create a seal, no seal no vacuum. Will have to return it.Had to make a gasket out of packing foam to make it hold a vacuum.

The recommended filter size of 5 to 6 cm is too small. These 5.6 cm paper filters do not cover the holes completely on the funnel.

The product description is misleading. If you purchase this, you need filter paper that has a diameter of at least 70mm. The inner diameter of the unit I received is around ~74mm, something even 6 cm filter paper will not cover. While it technically works, if you purchase filter paper based on the description, it will leave you frustrated and either looking to buy more filter paper or looking to buy a new Buchner funnel.

It's junk. I can't filter anything with it. It's a 2 piece unit with the seam right under the filter plate so it doubles as a funnel. You're better off spending a few more dollars on a better unit.Maybe my filtering technique sucks though, I was trying to use a coffee filter in a vacuum filter setup.
