I needed some way to drain the liquid out of some hot peppers that I soak in rubbing alcohol to produce a semi-natural gopher/mole repellant. I was just about to the point of going balls to the wall and building a custom percolator/extraction vessel out of HDPE pipe and other assorted materials when one of my chemist friends mentioned these to me. I have to admit that it was kind of hard to find one that was big enough and that could still be delivered to me in a reasonable amount of time, but this one was perfect and the quality was far greater than I ever could have hoped for. I didn’t think the glass would be thick at ALL and when it first arrived and I opened the box it blew me away. Definitely thick enough to withstand being packed and unpacked and handled a lot. I didn’t think it would even be thick enough to withstand even a couple times in and out of the box and I thought I’d have to be ULTRA careful when moving it around but nothing could be further from the truth

So it might take 1 or 2 returns but they will get you one that isn't broken eventually and then you have a decent separatory funnel just don't leave a L of organic layer in there overnight or it will leak out

This was a very pretty piece of glassware to have and when I got it, I put it proudly on display. The first time using it, I left it unattended (vented w/o the stopper) and came back to shattered glassware. I was using it to more easily separate precipitates out of water and I'm very lucky that it wasn't filled with something like DCM (methylene chloride) and standing near it. Now the shattered glass is only boiling stones, and my time was wasted because I used this piece of glassware. I've worked in labs with Eisco labware and it's as good as any if you don't want to pay pyrex prices, but I do not recommend this product.

As a chemist by trade, I've collected lots of various glassware, including this separatory funnel. I'm sure it will meet my needs in the future.

The funnel looks good and I would have loved to use it but the first one arrived in 2 pieces so I request a replacement. The second one arrived in 3 pieces. Their packing is the entire problem. The valve section is completely unsupported causing it to break off while in transit.

This is the 2nd time I’ve ordered and it’s arrived in pieces both times
