I've used the old red box units and they have broken down quickly. This one has lasted through fall and into winter, so far so good. The dual power supply options make it really versatile and the output adjustment is really helpful too. I started off using a solar panel, but I had too much shade so had to plug it into an extension cord. I place all the stuff into a battery box to keep the weather out. I use it on 8kv for bears and they have avoided the fence all season. I thought the remote was a gimmick but it's turned out to be very useful and works great. It would be awesome if the remote told you the status of the unit too. Overall a great charger kit.
