I run a lot of Makita tools and have started to try out these off-brand Makita battery compatible tools and this is one that has performed impressively. I use this almost everyday at work and home for brush clearing and smaller branches but I have found that it also cuts 1/0 stranded copper and up to 350 all-aluminum wire nicely. I use it regularly to shear solid #2 cu. I have compared it to other similar models and this one offers one of the larger cutting diameters and is easily one of the fastest. If you have Makita batteries this is one tool you should consider. The only downside is that I have yet to find replacement blades although the original purchase does include a second set of blades. Don't sleep on this one!

The replacement blade was explicitly mentioned in the the description but wasn't included. The usable cutting capacity is 35mm in the wide opening mode and about 26mm in the other mode, which isn't even close to 60mm. If this wer advertised as a 40mm pruner, this would be a different story. To add insult to injury, the printed circuit board is exposed with one through hole component sticking through the plastic at the battery holder. In better news, the pruner would probably work okay for branches up to 35mm, and the trigger is manufactured rather nicely (no flashing lines) and the whole tool feels okay in the hand. The dishonesty about capacity and the lack of a replacement blade make this a no-go for me, however.

This tool, which is compatible with my Makita collection of batteries, has become an essential tool for clearing hillsides of brush in my wildfire mitigation strategy. Up here at 4400’ elevation we have some tough woody species of brush like ceonothus, manzanita and black oak sprouts. This thing will cut hundreds of stalks and branches on one battery charge as a necessary first step to get through the thickets so small chainsaws can be deployed agains the stems. It easily and quickly cuts 1-1/4†thick with one hand as fast as I can throw the branches and will cut up to 2†if you attack from two angles. Its also fast and easy for removing the lower limbs from pines, firs and cedars so access can be obtained for easier and safer felling. Once the larger trees are down, this little tool makes short work of all the smaller branches prior to feeding the chipper or assembling piles for winter burning. Its so fast and efficient, you will wonder how you ever were able to clear land without it. Along with my three chainsaws, wedges, a peavy, logging chains and cables, and the crawler-tractor, this nipper is an essential piece of the arsenal. No more tired arm-muscles from using loppers.Just remember to keep it cleaned and oiled and WATCH YOUR FINGERS.

The product works very well, as described, with my Makita 18v battery. It seems that it can cut over a 100 times on a charge, though it got stuck a few times in harder wood, so be careful dislodging the blades because the trigger is pretty much a hair trigger.

These things are amazing. I might buy another pair. They are quite powerful and use very little battery. I will never use my lopping shears or hand pruning shears ever again.

One of the best pruning tools I have used. Then after doing around 50 cuts, the jaws stopped. Loved the tool when it worked. Follow up, took the tool apart and lined the gears back up & it's back up and running.
