I recently installed the Electronic Brake Controller with Proportional Brake Control and will put it to the test this summer moving a car on a transport trailer for a cross country move. The manual brake lever is the big plus and gives me an added layer of safety and control. If a trailer starts swaying, you can hit the manual brake lever, and it'll engage the brakes on the trailer to instantly fix the sway. So, wherever you install it, make sure it's where you can squeeze the lever while driving. The self-leveling feature ensures consistent braking performance regardless of the load. It's compatible with a wide range of vehicles beyond those listed. If you have multiple cars that can tow, you just need to buy and install pre-made wiring harnesses in the cars and plug this controller in when needed for towing something heavy with electric brakes. This controller looks like a well-known brand model so the pre-made harnesses are easy to find. Overall, this brake controller gives me significant peace of mind. I recommend it.

If you ever had a trailer hauling a Big Snocat shove your truck thru a downtown stoplight. Tires Screaming and people jumping..This solves that problem. Also great to have when heavy trailers try to pass (wagging) going down steep hills.I was lucky no harm done and wont haul anything big without one.This controller has alot of functions and looks exactly like another well known controller.Id go so far to say this is a rebadged controller or more likely clone at a better price as other ads for this controller say its Compatible with Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ controller.Wiring is the hardest part on a truck not set up with 7 pin tow package. Most modern trucks have a 4 pin set up in the factory harness that may require an additional connectorized plug in harness. Brake and 12v wires can be a wired along truck frame into cockpit for trailer brake and battery for 12v (put a fuse inline).Every vehicle has variations on plugs or connectors whereas some dont have any connectors so you have to run wires and tap into every wire.Not always a straightforward process but end result should be standard.Some older 7 pin trailers did not follow a standard so a wire breakout box on your trailer helps get things straight on those trailers.Time will tell on Reliability, Durabilty and Longevity. Only thing noted as negative is the power wheel when adjusting feels rough and not consistant when rolling.

After several years my Tekonsha Primus IQ died on me. While searching for a replacement I came across this model. It is nearly identical to the original Tekonsha Primus in every way other than name. It fit right into my existing bracket and plugged right into the existing wiring. A simple and complete replacement part, that works well. I like that its controls are identical to my old one, not needing to learn any new method for manual control when needed. The adjustable boost feature works well when pulling a heavier than usual trailer. All around I can't find any difference in the design or operation of this controller compared to the Tekonsha unit that costs more than twice what this one does. A great value and good working brake controller.

I needed a brake controller with my new/used truck, and found this one.I was expecting the kind of okay controller that I used to have back in day, however I was pleasantly surprised.I tow a large closed trailer that is packed full of very heavy equipment and without the braked controller it has been a bit of a challenge, not any more.This things was very easy to install, then adjustment was almost null, it feels every movement of the brakes and adjusts accordingly, making the towing of the heavy trailer pleasant, no more pushing of truck by the trailer.The proportional control is always nice to have for those questionable moments and this one works great.So bottom line is this is much more than what I was expecting when I ordered it. So if you think you might get a brake controller like we used to have in the 80s and 90s, forget it. This controller is very modern, the only difference between the fancy trucks that already have one and this one is this one isn't built in, then again you could make it built in if you got the skills to fabricate the install. Either way, I wasn't disappointed, and I don't think you will be either.
