I've used this style of case for storing audio equipment, and for my audio gear I was able to load the case with sheets of foam to protect the gear.I bought this one to protect a "microscope" of the digital sort so popular these days, while it was described as being "the case" for this scope, it was woefully undersize, and barely held the disassembled parts, with no room for foam padding or protection.A case 2 inches larger in all dimensions would be a more practical size for storing the digital microscope and allow for inclusion of protective foam.

All of these cases do a pretty good job of protecting optics. The trick is finding value. This case is a pleasant surprise. It is well made of durable materials and is very attractive but where is shines is cost vs. size. I needed a large enough case to house a older set of chunky binoculars without breaking the bank. I'm glad I pressed the button because this perfectly fits my application. The zipper functions flawlessly and the interior is soft and smooth, offering no damage to the contents.
