When banging the lid on the counter and running it under hot water have both failed, I get this out. It has not failed me yet! One pickle jar was stuck so badly that I could hear the motor straining, and I actually stepped back because I was afraid that the glass might break before the lid loosened. But no - after a few tense moments I heard the telltale pop, and the jar was open. A very handy little gadget!

Overview:As described.Experience:Yep as described and in keeping with other reviews, that's good for 4 stars. I don't give 5 stars unless it does all that and does something exceeding expectations, like sing and dance. This meets all my expectations, good quality no issues. Compact size works perfectly, well OK it will not open all jars, I had one that just would not budge. Overall better than others.I'm perplexed by the reviews of the different types as I have tried them all and even let my 86 year old mother try:The squeeze and grip type, which depend on how hard you can squeeze and the gripper material, aren't much better than a gripper pad. Then there is the all metal wedge type, which can be hand held or attached under a counter, they will shred metal lids, especially mason jar lids and no matter how hard you try to wedge you still have to twist the jar with no gained advantage in effort. The ratcheting rubber band type, I had these to take odd stuck oil filters off, back in the day, they didn't work then still don't. The stainless steel ratcheting type are the best design, kind of like a self adjusting vise grip pliers but all are so poorly made they bend and are self destruct with little effort (first use for me). If only someone made one that wasn't cheaply riveted together and thin steel it would be absolutely the bestThat being said this Elite Gourmet EJO800 High Power Torque Automatic Battery Operated Electric Jar Opener is the best I've tried. So far so good and like I said opened almost everything with 0 effort and no damage to jar or opener.

I canned alot of food, over the spring and summer. I also filled in the holes in my pantry stock. When I had my shoulder surgery, I thought I was all set. Well when I found that I lacked the strenth to open any of my vacuum sealed jars, I found this helper. It fits a lot of differnet sizes of jars. It opened factory sealed jars and my canning jars, with ease. It was so easy to work with. I recommend it to all of my senior group. I even demostrated it in their homes, when I visit to help out. It is safe to use because it opens the jars without tapping or jabbing the lids.

I bought this because of a few stubborn lids that even hot water didn't get loose. I installed 2 AA batteries and put it on the quart regular mouth mason jar and held the start button 3 seconds as per instructions. It was great, after clamping down on the lid the rubber foot slipped and tried to tighten further denting the lid. There's no stop button or emergency release so I just watched it do its thing. After it was done both of the rubber pads for the lid had cracks in them. I ran it again and one of the bottom feet snapped off. I popped it back on and tried again. Now both of the lid clamps are split and the foots popped off and the jar is still closed. Jar #2 it actually opened. I tried it on my other stuck lid and the thing clamped down and literally twisted itself in two with one of the lower clamps breaking completely off and by this time I'm loving it. That thing tried its best and if it couldn't get those lids off they really were stuck. I will say that it got both of those lids loose enough while breaking itself that I was able to open them by hand. Since jar #1 was pure essential oil of Sandalwood it was worth the time to buy, watch it break itself and returning it. There's no safety features and no stop button or release. If this got stuck on a wrist it would be bad. Cheap plastic and a strong motor. I'll try to add photos after I upload them.

I wasnt sure how this would work but it worked really well. Im older and its hard for me to open most jars. This does that for me now. It has to be on top the jar to start and grab. It is slow but now i dont have to worry about straining to open jars. I would recommend this.

I really didn't expect this jar opener to work as well as it does. It has worked on every size jar I have tried, it even worked on a bottle lid. Make sure if your jar has been in the fridge you let it completely dry off before trying to open as if it is wet it will just slide. Once dried, it works perfectly. This jar opener is amazing.

This may not be the quietest machine but it certainly works. We do some pressure canning and that results in bottles that are often hard to open, this is an easy, hands free method of opening home processed jars. Commercial jars such as pickles are easily opened. Just place the opener on top of the jar, push the button and watch, it is that easy.

I had to buy more for my family members as I was quite impressed by how well it worked. 4 stars because there are large jars that this could not fit.

I gifted this to my Aunt that has arthritis and other issues that affect her hands/grip. We tried it with a jar of home made sauce. As suspected, it did not work. Outer grips just slipped off. Tried again after heating and knocking the lid to help loosen it but no luck. Then I tried it on a jar of olives I bought from Costco. Still did not open the jar. I tried to open that jar by hand and it was easy. I do not recommend this product. Too good to be true. My Aunt had such high hopes.
