About MS CAN and HS CAN switch

Some Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury models (approximately since 2003-2004) are equipped with MS CAN bus, in stead of the regular HS CAN bus. In contrast to HS CAN bus, MS CAN bus is not supported by the old ELM327 USB OBD scanner, because MS CAN is a manufacturer-specific solution and located on non-OBD2 pins.

This ELM327 USB OBD supports both HS CAN and MS CAN. Most cars use HS CAN mode. But for some Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury models, some functions and modules use MS CAN. So when you want to detect and reset such functions and moudules, you would switch the SWITCH to the MS CAN side.

Explanation to the Issues Mentioned in the Reviews

1. Is it compatible with Forscann?

Sure, this tool is compatible with Forscann.

2.Does it support Bluetooth or WIFI connection?

No, this is a USB connection. You can search Bluetooth OBD2 adapter or WIFI OBD2 adapter in our shop.

3. Dose it support phone's APPs?

No. It doesn't support any APPs although the APPs have the function of USB connection which means by PC not by phones. All APPs are for WIFI or Bluetooth or both connections, not for USB connection.

4. Why is no CD disk now?

Before, we supplied some APPs in the CD disk in the package. But we found it was easily damaged and some friends complained that the free APPs (should be paid) was not the latest version but the required functions were not affected much. So we no longer provide CD disk in the package. But we supplied downloading links in the paper manual. If you need these free softwares, you can download them. You also can download the latest version of the software from the official website, but you may have to pay for it.

5. Why is there a virus warning when installing the free software we provide?

Yes, there is a virus warning but the software is safe, please feel free to use it. Because it is free instead of the official software that requires payment. So you know the reason now. Anyhow, if you don't like these free softwares. You can download them from official websites. We just provide an alternative for some

6. What happed if I don't use software Forscann?

For Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, FORScann can detect and reset hidden modules by the manufacture and do some works that other OBD softwares can't do. If you don't want to detect and modify the hidden modules and your vehicle is not Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury, you can use other diagnostic software, such as Scanmaster.

7. Why do I have fewer functions than others?

The product itself cannot increase or decrease functions. The number of functions depends on the software you use. Different sofwares, different functions. Usually, recommend FORScann to Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, and recommend Scanmaster to other brands.

8. Why doesn't it work for my car?

There will be some reasons: (a). Your vehicle is diesel or electric or 24V. This adapter is only for 12V fuel vehicles after 1996 with OBD2. (b). You bought wrong adapter. You thought this is Bluetooth or WIFI adapter. In fact this is USB adapter. (c).Your software is wrong setting for connection, please check the help of software. (d).You should plug it into your car's OBD port and turn the ignition to "on" position, then this tool can be powered on by the car battery.

9. How to choose OBD softwares?

(a). To Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, FORScann is recommended. (b). Except for Ford, Mazda, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, all other brands of vehicles, such as Toyota, Honda, BMW, Audi, etch, Scanmaster-ELM is recommended. I have other OBD2 readers and scanners, but with the utility application, this was indispensable for installing after-market equipment in my F-150.To use the downloadable Forscan utility, I needed their 'extended' license, which is available for limited use at no cost, but I'm not sure how expensive it gets later on, also the license registration/installation is not immediate, so expect to wait 24 hours before you can use the product. Recommend to download and register software before you get the hardware, if you need to use it right away.

It is a fast connector. Works great in my 2013 F150. Great value and performance. I have only used it in a Ford F150, so donâ€™t know how it works in other models.Would buy again and would recommend to others.
