I thought I could manage with needle nose pliers and a scratch awl, but no. You can't get a Vislon zipper top stop off with either of those. This was a key purchase for that. Then, after that zipper, I had a metal zipper, which is normally pretty easy to get the top stop off, but after ten minutes of frustration with the awl, I remembered this handy little tool. It says "zipper install pliers" but for me, these are zipper top stop removers.You have to be careful removing the stops, with vision you just cut off the edge that sticks out from the fabric, being very careful not to get the fabric. Then you can pick the pieces off the fabric with your fingernails.On the other hand, with the metal stops, you need to carefully get under the end of the stop, while bracing against the curved part, to pry it open.

Chews up wire with textured grip. It also sheds black flakes when using. Good for precise points and for gripping wire to wrap. Doesn’t work well with aluminum wire, it’s too soft and easily chews up

I have used similarly sized jewellery tools before and the smaller they are, the better your hand strength needs to be to use them. Mini tools are convenient for taking with you, but if you have grip strength issues this might not be the tool for you. (FYI: If I have to increase the force needed to use something tiny, I use a larger channel lock plier to help me get the handles closed. Looks weird using a big tool to use a tinier tool, but…).This was purchased in advance to help with fitting separating zip hardware which I will probably need to do at some point. I have not used it yet, but I think it will do the job. Using any great force probably won’t be necessary since I will be using it to clamp the findings onto the zipper tape, not cutting through metal.

if you're looking to cut 1 thing once, you'll be fine. If you want some clippers to last multiple uses, look elsewhere
