I just purchased this cable and took a gamble since all of the prior reviews were from VINE people who got it for free. (I paid $50 under the well-known brand cable also available so for 25% less, and free amazon returns, what could go wrong?)Answer: nothing. The cable from Seguma is well-made heavy cable and works perfectly with no loss in power, no noticeable excess heat, and solid connectors. I received no incentives for this honest review.Background on why I purchased this cable:I've been driving EVs for 12 years now and as such, I have one of the very old original Ecotality (long since bankrupt) Blink chargers that still works great but can't deliver more than 24A (even on my 240V/40A circuit). I just purchased a new 2023 Tesla Model Y (which came with the Female J1772 adapter to the Tesla NACS/SAAW J3400 plug) which allowed me to plugin my old charger to my new Tesla perfectly and get 24A.The problem was that with the charge door at the rear of the Tesla, and my garage space very tight, I couldn't back the Tesla in and be close enough for the charger cord to reach. So I was down the path of a Tesla Wall Connector and a 60A circuit upgrade to get the full 48A charger my Model Y could handle. $1500 for the circuit upgrade and another $500 for the wall connector - and I was looking at $2k... for what? So I could charge the entire battery in 6 hours during super-off-peak? I realized I never need to go that far and could always put it on the supercharger if I needed to.The cable:So after evaluating all of the options in the market (extending my NEMA 6-50 outlet with an extension cord, extending the length of the outlet to bring the charger closer, etc.) I stumbled across this J1772 extension cord from Seguma ... with no reviews from people that had purchased the cable.It came well packaged, connectors protected, entire cable protected in plastic for that matter, in a nice case (that I'll never use the cable will just be run down the side of my garage on the floor). It's the almost exactly cable used on my original Blink charger, solid, good quality rubber, the right about of flexibility but not too much.Now I have Charger (J1772 Male) -> (J1772 Female) Seguma Charging Cable (J1772 Male) -> (J1772 Female) Tesla included Connector (NACS/SAAE J3400 Male) -> 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance (total of about 41ft total)Initial tests have been fine. I still get the full 24A I was getting off of the charger before using this extension cable. I saved $1850 off of the upgrade to a wall connector option and 25% off of the competitor cable everyone seems to always purchase on Amazon.I'm very happy with my purchase thus far but will update this review if I ever have any issues.

We already have a 2011 Nissan Leaf and a charger in our garage. So when we just bought a new Kia EV9 we wanted to be bale to charge both cars from the same charger. Unfortunately the charge port on the Kia is as far away from the charger location as it could possibly be. This extension cable was the perfect solution! Our charger is a 50 amp charger so it is ideal for our application.

The cable, housing, and connector all appear to be of high quality. It works well to charge my car when connected to my Level 2 charger running at 32 amps.The one issue - the connection between the J1772 connector on my charge cable and the female end of the extension cable is not secure. The locking mechanism doesn’t ensure the cables are fully connected, so it’s possible to pull them apart a few centimeters while still locked together. This disconnects the cables and stops electricity flowing to the car.

Happy that I pulled the trigger on this. My parking situation used to require me to awkwardly squeeze diagonally between two other cars to get close enough to my charger, but with this extension I'm able to park normally behind my other car and there's plenty of length available.The cord itself and the connector feel equally as high quality as the cord integrated into my EVSE. I haven't noticed any difference in charge speeds from my 40amp EVSE, nor excess heat from the cable.I also appreciate that it included a bag to keep things tidy when not being used.

After about 40 days of owning this item I started to have charging problems. I only used the extension cable 12 times for just under 3 months I’m now getting a short when I try and connect the extension plug into my main line on my level 2 charger cord. You have to wiggle it around and press firmly to get it to respond. If I bypass using the extension cord I have no issues with just the main line cable only so I know there’s an issue with the extension cord. Of course this causes issues as you think it’s charging and then it will stop or will not charge at all. I Can Not Return The Extension Cable as I’m past their return timeline. Also, You may be taking a chance if you use it as it may cause a larger problem for your electric car batteries or the car itself. I am still using the my original main charger unit cable that was installed about 8 years ago with no problems what so ever.

I have secured the extension cable to the garage walls and have ran it from the garage installed charger to the outside, penetrating the wall at the bottom corner of the garage overhead door. This enabled me to charge the car when it is parked either in the garage or outside. There are no ammeter measured losses through the extension cord and the connectors. It is surprisingly flexible so cornering the garage walls was not a problem at all. The setup works great. The extension cord is solidly built and it came very well protected against any damage during shipment. Great product at a great price.

Quality is the same as our wall charger, and it works very well. I also purchased a hook and charger dock to store it when not in use. We have two EVs, one that charges in the garage and the other outdoors. Instead of moving the cars around all the time, we simply use this extension and run it under the garage door. Affordable solution, instead of purchasing a second home charger.

I needed a few more feet to be able to park my car where I wanted to and I scratched my head trying to figure it out, Then I found this extension cable for my charger and was a bit sceptical at first but then I got it and I tried it out. Viola it works great but there is one down fall for this cable which is why I gave it only 4 stars.That issue is when I have it plugged into my car it doesn't lock in like the charge cable does. and it doesn't lock on the charge side either. This is issue I have with this extension cable.

Using it with my 50amp home charger with no problems.Wire doesn’t heat up, connectors are solid, wire stays flexible in -22c weather.

Product does what it says. Doesn’t heat up when used with my Hyundai J1772 charge cable. It is heavy and thicker than the cable that came with my Hyundai so in cold weather, be prepared to fight with it some more to get it to straighten out or coil back. But still 5 stars as the quality is certainly there.
