I've thought for a long time about getting a split ring opener, but didn't think I needed to spend the money. After all, there are a lot of ways to open a split jump ring, it just takes ingenuity, right? But I have tendon and joint damage from Lupus, so no matter how much ingenuity I use, it's getting harder and harder to open those rings. So I did my research, and decided I needed to go with the tool, not the tweezer, and spend the extra money on a decent tool. I was RIGHT. It was well worth it!! I can open any split ring, from TINY (1mm) all the way up to big enough to hold a set of keys for a hotel custodian (10 cm), WITH EASE! (Only one contingency: the ring can't be offset! See pic#3! If the ring is off set, you CANNOT open it with the tool! You won't be able to "get a grip" on the ring to open it.) All I have to do is line the claw up and give it a little squeeze. Even if the ring is electroplated shut, it still pops right open! My only regret is that I didn't get one years ago!

As an older adult, I don't have the dexterity in my hands that I used to have. I found it a bit frustrating to add and remove keys and other items to and from rings that were on the "tight" side. In an attempt to make this task easier, I decided to order and try this split ring pliers and I'm glad I did.It is a sturdy and well made tool with good functionality. The pliers is a good size, not too big nor too small and fits my large hands nicely. Although I have only used it a few times, it has been useful and made adding keys and other objects to the rings much easier.

Great little tool for attaching keys to key rings - or changing rabies tags or adding ID tags to those pesky little rings that need to be attached to the dog's collar. Bought one for myself, and several others to donate to my local animal shelter. Wish I'd found them three dogs ago!

I started making key chains and miscellaneous jewelry items. I use a lot of split rings to add charms, etc. I needed a tool that would open the rings wide enough to add heavier items like charms. This tool didn't.
