Purchased EW-73B lens hood for my new lens, Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is STM. Note these acually scenarios. 1. I used my new lens to record video on a totally cloudy day without rain before receiving the hood lens. My video quality is great. 2. I used the hood lens on my new lens multiple times in direct sunlight and no flare or light streaks making my video remain clear with great quality. 3. The lens hood protected this new lens from a short light rain shower, while I continued to video record. My advice, if you have the lens, Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 is STM, and you do street video, get the lens hood. I recently picked up a beat up EF-S 18-135 STM and wanted a cheap hood to mount to it. I decided to try a cheaper hood and found it to certainly be cheap, but it does work. Compared to my Canon brand hoods, this one has sharp edges (running your fingers over it I mean), and does not have the same sturdy feel as OEM hoods. The plastic used on this hood is weaker. Overall though, it'll do the job on my "beater" lens.

Needed a, replacement after I dropped my OEM version and it rolled into the path of a car. The OEM version appears to be unavailable, so an aftermarket product hadcto be acquiredPlus points ;It fitsit does the job.Cheaper than OEM.Available.Minus points ;Definitely liwer quality than OEM. The plastic feels flimsier, and some of the edges feel sharper and less finished. The inside is not felt lined like the OEM version, although it is slightly textured; I suspect this will lead to a reflection problem when the sun is in front of the lens.I had to laugh at the oackaging, using Canon colours and similar fontd - Chinese passing off as it's finest!In the basis of the OEM version not being available, I can recommend it but would spend the the extra on what I suspect would beca lomger lasting product.
