I must sadly agree with other buyer -- a dowel split during attempted assembly and even then assembly was difficult. The wood is of much less quality overall than would appear in the seller's photos.

I've wanted a desktop / tabletop bookshelf like this for years, and this one looked just perfect for our decor. (We use a fair amount of bamboo, being a reusable resource and very strong and sturdy.) I also really love that it's expandable, which means I can use it in a wide variety of places in the house. It's a great size for books, CDs, or DVDs, depending on your needs. And it's actually really easy to put together, once you figure it out. That was my one problem with this shelf, in fact: the instructions were not the best or most helpful. Otherwise, I'm very happy with this little shelf, and am totally thinking about another one (they're just so versatile)!

What I like best about this bookshelf is that the width is adjustable—essentially it has two halves which can be pushed closer together or pulled further apart. The bamboo parts are finished well enough for the price ($26 at the time of this review). The directions are only in Chinese, but the pictures are clear enough that I had no problem assembling it—the important thing is to realize each of the divider pieces (the ones with legs) is unique and thus must be added in the proper order. The reason I deducted a star is that once I put it together, the feet aren’t level and the support rods aren’t parallel to the desk/table top. I really love this little book holder for the desk! It looks super elegant and nice with books on it. It was very easy to put together and is really sturdy. I like that it's extendable so You can make it any size you need to for the space that you have. This is a great way to organize books or binders or really any office stuff that you need to organize. Super happy that I got this! I look forward to ordering more from this company in the future!

Easy to assemble. Color and stain are accurate per picture previews. Item easily adjusts, which is nice depending on your needs for use. Great addition to a library, bedroom, or office area. Nice smooth edges and light weight.
