About this item

  • MAKE YOUR OWN SAUERKRAUT, KIMCHI, AND PICKLES - The Kenley fermentation crock is a natural and easy way to make sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, and more at home. With a 1-gallon capacity, it can hold up to 5-6lbs of vegetables, making it perfect for small batches.
  • HIGH-GRADE CERAMIC AND FOOD-SAFE COATING - Crafted from the finest natural stoneware, this authentic fermentation jar ensures that the flavors you taste come only from your vegetables. A carefully designed, food-safe coating prevents oxidation and improves temperature stability, resulting in well-preserved and delicious fermented vegetables.
  • GAME-CHANGING WATER SEAL - The Kenley 1 gallon sauerkraut crock is designed to make fermentation easy so you get great results every time. The water seal lid lets fermentation gases escape while keeping air out, ensuring your vegetables are properly preserved and taste great.
  • ENHANCE FERMENTATION WITH WEIGHTS AND POUNDER - The fermentation crock comes with unglazed weighting stones to keep all kimchi or sauerkraut submerged under the brine during fermentation. The pounder is added to pack down the cabbage, releasing its juices and speeding up the fermentation process.
  • EASY TO USE AND CARE FOR - The fermenting crock is double-glazed for easy cleaning and care. To clean, simply remove any stray vegetable matter when empty, wash with your usual washing-up liquid, and dry fully. Sturdy yet elegant, the Kenley fermentation crock looks great on any countertop.

This crock is awesome! Not only does it look great on my counter...but makes awesome pickles!Make sure you keep an eye on the water at the top (water seal) and keep that fresh and filled (a feature I appeciate). The weights can take come practice getting them into a full crock of cucumbers...but I have found that some patience or taking a cucumber or two out, will get them in and weigh them down under your brine nicely! The crock is thick and solid which is a huge plus (thick like the crocks years ago). This was my first time making pickles and using a crock...I will buy this one again happily if I need another one! Highly recommended!

This crock has that great feature of being airtight, yet allowing fermentation gases to escape. Do remember to fill the little trough at the top of the jar to maintain this airtight condition during processing. In between processing your kombucha, vegetables, or sauerkraut, it makes a fine cookie jar!

I wish I’d bought this long ago. While my kraut has always turned out fine in gallon jars with my cobbled-together weights, stepping up to this crock has been a game changer and I’m turning out a better kraut. I’m in Arizona and it’s very dry, so evaporation while it’s fermenting was always a problem. With the water channel to seal the lid of this crock, it’s much better. The one gallon crock fits a batch made with two good sized heads of cabbage, which is perfect for me. If you’re still using random jars and whatever else you can find for your fermentation projects, make yourself happy and get one of these babies.

This crock is great for fermenting sauerkraut. I used 3 medium size heads of cabbage and ended up with 2-3 inches of head space after adding the weights. One customer complained about having to add water to the channel around the top on a daily basis, but I don't have to add water until 2 or 3 days have passed. The only complaint I have is that the kraut pounder is about 4 inches too short. I realized that the length of the pounder is limited by packaging, but it really needs about 4 more inches of length.

I ordered a 5 Liter crock. Shipping was very fast - Prime next day. The crock is light weight and functions fine. The weights are unglazed and porous but fit the crock well, keeping all fermenting food weighted down beneath brine. The cabbage packer works great. I was going to return the crock because it looked way too small to be 5 liters. Amazon immediately shipped me a replacement, which was the same size. So I sent the replacement back. I used this one for a batch of kimchi and it holds about 2 liters maximum. Please see the photo of the crock where it is clearly stamped "2 Ltr." So I have paid for a 5 Liter crock and only have a 2 liter crock. I would avoid this product. I probably can't return it now that I have used it because the weights smell like kimchi.

I've now just finished my second run of sauerkraut with this crock, with perfect results... shred cabbage into a large bowl, calculate weight, around 3-4 kg and add a ratio of 2.2% salt... spices if you wish.. I added a tsp of liquid smoke and bay leaves this time as I wanted to make capuzzi garbi (italian version of kraut) plus the bay leaves keeps the brunch in the cabbage (tannin)... after 3rd week and it tastes so good... also I recommend ordering a ph meter, and if your kraut is below 4.5, then you're good and it's safe to eat... This crock is big and ideal for ho.e use, and you'll definitely get through it.. sauerkraut is also very healthy and an amazing prebiotic... so technically you'll have fantastic food and vitamins all in one! It's a win win 🏆
