I haven’t had any issues with these sensors. I’ve purchased 3 from this seller. I’ve also purchased a handful from Adafruit in the past and these are identical to the ones they sell. These work on their fingerprint library and Arduino examples included with their library. The JST connector is pretty small. If you’re used to working with 2.54mm spacing on breadboards then you will have the inconvenience of cutting and stripping the wires to play with it. The only male JST connectors out there in this size are surface mount, so you would have to make your own PCB if you wanted to be able to remove the sensor easily. The fingerprint sensor uses a JST-SH 1.0mm female connector. You will need the male equivalent to work on a PCB. I was able to find the footprint library for Fusion 360 online for my PCB and it worked well. Here is an Amazon listing for the male connectors: CQRobot 50 Sets/400 Pieces JST SH SMT 1.0 mm Pitch 6-Pin IC Sockets & Plugs Adapter Connector Male and Female Terminal, Crimp DIP Kit. for Industrial Integrated Circuit JST Connector Cable. https://a.co/d/j9aToDwAs far as accuracy goes I’ve used these a lot and never experienced false CQRobot 50 Sets/400 Pieces JST SH SMT 1.0 mm Pitch 6-Pin IC Sockets & Plugs Adapter Connector Male and Female Terminal, Crimp DIP Kit. for Industrial Integrated Circuit JST Connector Cable. I also rarely have it fail to read my print. This is the most consistent and reliable fingerprint sensor I’ve ever used. We have some Lockly fingerprint door latches which go for like $350 and frequently fail to read my print on the first try. Making your own locking system with these fingerprint sensors is way better. The only tricky part is 3D printing a decent looking enclosure.

For those looking for some homegrown automation using fingerprints, these work great with ESPHome. You can control the light color (red, green, or purple), register fingerprints, and use known fingerprints in automations. Surprisingly accurate for the price of these modules. Only negative is the connector it comes with is not very common, so you'll likely need to crimp another connector you have handy (or just solder directly if that's your thing).
