Great price and prompt delivery. If these are for replacements and your smoke detectors are old you may need to replace the bezel and the AC pigtail which are included. I replaced mine 10 years ago and that was necessary. This time these replacements fit perfectly. I still replaced the bezel because they had slightly ‘yellowed’ and it is very easy to do, just two screws. The pigtails did not need to be replaced.I recommend replacing the installed batteries which are not even alkaline. I replaced them with Amazon Basics 9V lithium batteries which should last ten years, the life of the detectors. FYI, I got 5yrs using alkaline cells but the extra cost of lithium cells will keep me off the ladder for the life of the detectors.

Very easy to install. Alarm accuracy is good. Reliability appears sufficient as they have gone off a few times after detecting a small amount of smoke while cooking, but we have not experienced any inappropriate alarms. Bright white color looks great.

These units come ready with battery installed, and if you have a prior version of the same unit (mine installed 10 years ago) installation is just a quick unscrew the unit, plug in the leads and put on the new unit. I am curious to see if the 10-year batteries actually last that long. Would purchase again.

Let me first say that I needed smoke detectors that didn't give me false alarms. I have a hardwired system of 7 alarms, and was considering the CO and smoke detector combo. NO! from all that I have read and reviewed, bad idea, both First Alert and Kidde can't seem to get it right, and have very often faulty alarms and premature deaths of the alarms. Photoelectric? Not as often, but from what I read and reviewed as well, same thing. I made my purchase on what I know as time tested and true! These alarms "BRK9120b" are the exact same thing that have been running in my home since 2007, and without one issue. In fact, all the old ones were working quiet well (incense test), before I replaced them. I didn't realize that they were way past expired until upon further inspection than the weekly test. The replacement of them for 6 took less than 30 minutes. The hardwired adapters were the exact same as the the ones installed in 2007. So what about the CO for my gas burning CO emitting stuff. Well I plan to get some standard stuff. I read a review of only one person that actually tested their CO detector before installing. How? He put it in front of his vehicle's tailpipe. Genius.I take smoke alarms pretty serious as one actually saved my life. Years ago I moved into an old home without one smoke detector. Installed several el cheapos in every room and called it a day. As the years went on and the batteries failed, I just yanked the batteries and planned on getting replacements. With a full time job, and night school, I just didn't get around to it. I had one smoke detector left that had a good battery. I fell asleep very exhausted (school finals), and awoke to a whole home full of smoke, my entire kitchen was ablaze. After rescuing my animals, I grabbed my garden hose and extinguished the fire. If that one smoke detector had a dying and chirping battery and I yanked it like the rest of them, I would not be writing this review today. Point being, I am a firm believer in keeping your smoke alarms up and running in peak performance. Set a yearly reminder in your cell phone to replace the batteries every 11 months (do it now!) Get up on a ladder and see how old your detectors are (there is a manufacturing date on the back). 9-10 years old, replace it. $50-60 bucks ain't worth you or your families life! Hope this message reaches at least one person. Also, as with all my reviews, should something fail, or go wrong, believe me, I update.

I just received this 6 pack of First Alert/BRK smoke Detectors and installed them in place of 12 year old detectors of the BRK brand. Two things:1) they look identical to the old ones but they are bigger and don't fit in the same trim strip. Not a real problem since they come with new trim strips but annoying since replacement involved more than just plugging them in.2) these are battery back up units and have inconsistent manufacturing. 5 of the 6 installed and worked perfectly. The 6th installed and immediately started chirping once per minute. As luck would have it, this was installed in the highest of the ceilings so many trips up a 16' ladder were required.this once per minute chirp supposedly means the battery is dead however the red LED is supposed to flash at the same time. The red LED did not flash. Also, you should be able to sound the alarm with only the battery connected however nothing happened when the device was not connected to the 120V power. Now, don't fool yourself about the battery... after you disconnect from 120V power the thing still works for a while. the 120V circuit powers up a big capacitor that takes a while to drain. this means that you can have a bad battery and still have the thing work (for a bit.) so, grab a pillow and hold down the test button until the sound drains away. now you know it is the battery. if it has a good battery, it will keep working.I opened the battery compartment and found the battery was quite hot to the touch. Since this was a new battery I knew something was wrong.. the only way a 9V battery gets hot is through a direct short of the terminals. Not good but at least it can only start a fire under very extreme and very unlikely circumstances.I took the thing down and found three latches around the edge of the plastic dome which allows the dome to pop off. Now the battery compartment swings open and if you look closely, you may see that the spring metal contacts are touching each other at location where the springs are soldered to the circuit board. I used a small screw driver to create space and inserted some electrical tape as an insulator. Since it is 9V DC almost any insulator would work... even a sheet of paper. Now, with the battery installed, you get the correct result when you push the test button. And the dang thing doesn't chirp every minute. it is easy to pop the dome back on. Better than New.Just so you know! This is not a difficult fix but it is a safe and easy alternative to sending it back to the manufacturer(or Amazon) as the case may be.Great Value in a 6 packdc

Well after getting help, I'm 70 we were able to get the replacements installed but did have to change out the base plate. It was simple for someone younger to do up on a ladder. Thankful that they fit and look great. Was never aware that they had to be changed out art 5 years.Had mine up 25. I know now.
