This barn door, gel and grid combination is inexpensive and wonderful. I have used it on multiple occasions to create a nice effects on my photo shoots. The grid is very useful when you want to create a hard and narrow, focused beam, but I usually soften it with a white gel. I have two sets and sometimes use double gel. The slot on the barn door is large enough where you can stack a couple of gels easily. When I have to work without assistant on a windy day outdoor, I like using this method because it is less likely to be affected by wind like umbrella or softbox would, and is much easier to move around, as it is not bulky on top.

These actually provide a really decent light cut for my 500w photo lamps. It's a better cut than even the barn doors for my nanlite forza LED lights. There is still some spill, and it's more a "soft" cut than a hard cut, so blackwrap is needed as an addition, but overall they're not bad. A little pricey though.

Honestly the gels are extremely thin and not very durable, so you do have to be careful with them. That being said, they work extremely good. The colors are very deep and rich. Also you can combine more than one gel at a time to create different colors. This is a really low priced set, so in that respect I'm very happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Well made and attaches easily to the 7 1/2 inch silver dish that Photogenic strobes require. It wasn't easy to find a good, economic barn door kit option for my strobes because of the unique size of the silver dish. Standard is 7" diameter. Photogenic uses 7 1/2" diameter dishes. I was happy to find these!
