I have no experience with this type of tool or the work it's used for. I found myself with a wire i needed to lengethen, and a few cat5 ethernet cables would suffice. I bought junction boxes to convert from wires to ethernet, and bought this tool to attach the wires to the box.With no background or experience, I have to say the process was easy to figure out; just make sure the blade side is not going to cut the wire you're punching down. I have no idea if this is well built or a good deal for the money. What I can say is I used it to punch down 32 wires and it didn't break. All i can confirm is, it works perfectly for one-off projects.

A big box store sells a similar item for nearly $30!! I expected something cheaply made for the price. Nope! Great quality. Good weight. Excellent product.

This is a good tool for home use. I wouldn't want to use this for commercial use as I don't think it would hold up for 1000's of punches. I used it the punch down my in home rack with 48 ports with no problems.

My more expensive punchdown tool disappeared and I needed to terminate about 50 Cat6 runs. This worked flawlessly, so I'm pretty happy with the quality, especially considering the price. This is the perfect tool if you won't need it a lot (i.e., you're not a professional cable installer).
