It saves me time on the job with quick temp readings on industrial motors, circuits, HVAC, etc. And, it is far cheaper than an IR camera.PLEASE NOTE: ALL FLUKE IR THERMOMETERS WILL READ IN FAHRENHEIT. I see a few reviewers who state that this thermometer will "only read in Celsius". NOT TRUE. Simply hold down the SEL button for 3+ seconds, to get to the 'hidden menu' which allows you to set date, time, °C or °F, and other functions.Yes, Fluke includes a printed owner's manual which is practically useless, BUT after a total of 10 minutes with my 64 MAX, I had everything figured out, and set up the way I prefer. You can go to their website and download the User Manual, and Instructions, which are very complete thorough documents. In order to save printed paper, I believe all User Manuals should be downloaded, instead of printed.Manual (and the label on the side of the 64 MAX) says 'Assembled in China'. I sure wish Fluke would return to Made in the USA!All in all: I heartily recommend this thermometer. I would buy it again.Edit: I did figure out that if I set emissivity to 0.84%, I could get very accurate, very repeatable body temperature readings. NOTE: Fluke (and I) DO NOT RECOMMEND USING A 64 MAX for body temp readings. The problem is you have to point the aiming laser at your forehead. (I just turn the aiming laser off...) In today's United States litigious (law suit happy) society however, I am sure that Fluke views this as too risky (read 'risky' as 'financially undesirable').

I had a basic Fluke IR thermometer, bought many years ago. Worked pretty well and was used for all sorts of things from measuring HVAC register temperatures, to food temperature, to CPU temperatures, to deck to decide whether to try staining or not.Sadly, it seems to have gone walkabout.... probably still somewhere around, and not I have bought this, it will re-surface within a day or so.C'est la vie.Anyway, back to the subject. This has all the features I always wished for with the old device, plus some.You really do need to download the PDF user guide to make any sense of the setup. The included paper version is worse than useless. Even with the text explanations to go with the drawings, some of them are still pretty incomprehensible. But there is enough in the PDF version to make setting it up relatively easy.And to kill off that complaint once and for all: Yes, you can select between C and F.The ability to scan a surface and see the Min/Max/Average values is something I can see myself making use of a fair amount. The backlight for the screen is well done, and probably needs to be on by default. The LCD sxcreen is sharp and clear (with the backlight on).What is left on my wishlist? Well, with the number of settings, a USB connector and a small app to configure might be good - provided that it didn't inflate the price too much (or at all).Overall. very happy with it at this point.

I bought this temperature gun twice both the time it’s a wrong temperature gun. First time when I bought it shows only Celsius then I call the manufacturer and they said they are getting lots of call from people who bought from Amazon. They said one that I have can read only in Celsius. They also told me that manufacturer made that for different country like where they use Celsius and they are not supposed to sell this model in America we use Fahrenheit. I explained that to Amazon customer support and they told me I just got the wrong model by accident and they told me I can return the item and will get an another one with right model. Then I return the wrong one and order an another one that came in and same issue I cannot do Fahrenheit and it’s been almost 4 weeks still haven’t received the refund for the first one. So be careful who ever is trying to buy this product if u r thinking it’s in Fahrenheit. Stay away from.

It feels great to hold, sturdy and easy to use. Quick and accurate readings. Be aware that the included "instructions" are useless though, as mentioned by others. Download the manual at Fluke before use! Unit of measure (degrees C/F), laser on/off, background light etc are in a submenu that you access by pressing the trigger once, then holding down the SEL for 3+ seconds. You can then step through the settings with SEL and changing them with SET. Great thermometer!

Yes, it is much more expensive than the many options out there that claim to do essentially the same thing. They don't! This unit lives up to the Fluke name, which is no longer reliably the case with all of their newer products. I hope that they realize the importance of the Good Will that their name still carries. Anyway, the features that I did not know I would need are actually very desirable. It is easy to use, easy on batteries; and the manual is great if you make the effort to download it from their web site. From the comments I have seen here, folks don't seem to be aware that the manual that comes with the device is just a starting point. People need to get used to the idea that it is environmentally a much better policy to have manuals available for download than to package them with each item. The manual for this device would be fairly expensive if printed out many times. But it is a very good manual, and well worth reading. Otherwise, you will be missing out on the really great features of this excellent tool.

Ita a fluke, I've bever had a issue with their products. This review is not for the 64 max functionality, that is great. The problem is they sent me a damaged gun. Shot off 2 laser dots when trigger pulled, and the front sticker plate was peeling off. I called fluke and told them and they said that's definitely not supposed to happen. Returned it. May just spend the extra $50 and order it straight from fluke

Sehr gutes Messgerät. Die Messwerte sind konsistent und vetrauenswürdig. Habe mit 2 billigen chinesischen Geräten verglichen... und beide zurück geschickt.Wenn ihr messen wollt, kauft Fluke oder etwas ähnliches. Die billigen sind definitiv keine Messgeräte, sondern Spielzeuge mit starken WOW-Efekt. Aber mehr ist das nicht.
