Three things I really like about this fly swatter:1) The long handle is a must for me. I have found that swatters with shorter handles (16") don't give enough reach to get outdoor flys, which seem to be more skittish than the ones that are in confined indoor spaces.I had an older swatter that had a 20 inch handle which I loved. I tried to order a new one, but the manufacturer has shortened the handle to 16 inches - not long enough.2) The business end of the swatter is more flexible than plastic swatters. The extra flexibility helps get flys that are in tight spaces. The ad says it is leather. It looks like leather, but I think it may be pleather (artificial leather). Either way, it is flexible and easy to clean.3) The handle is metal and very strong, won't bend or break. It is a thick wire (similar in thickness to the coat hangers you get from a dry cleaner - but stiffer and stronger). The wire is twisted and shaped to give it extra strength.I highly recommend this swatter, even though it is more expensive that others. It is effective and built for long life.

Whoever invented this thing deserves some sort of an award. Sturdy and long enough. If you look at my picture, I suggest keeping it curled the way it comes out of the packaging for less resistance in the air as you are slaughtering creatures who have it coming.I’m about to order several more of these and this is going to become a recurring gift to people I love who live around flies and wasps. The ones you can get at grocery stores and hardware stores and even the best one Amazon favors have flimsy handles that bend when you put some force behind it. So you have to go slower than you’re able to go so you don’t bend that piece of junk. That’s not the case here. I could not bend this thing if I swung it with everything I’ve got. Unless I was heading into a metal pole or something obviously. But just going after a fly, including contact, there’s no bending this thing and it’s at least 4 inches longer than the best model Home Depot has to offer. Those pieces of junk bend the first time you go after a fly. And wasps take a lot more force and speed to make a clean kill without risking being stung.Get one. You will confirm for yourself.

My old swatter needed to retire, but I like a longer handle. It’s hard to find a long handle that doesn't warp or bend when I have a death grip on it, as I swat. This new one, has a very impressive, sturdy handle! Very unexpected! Ive never had one, so thick and strong. This is better than expected and I will stick with this one from now on. I got the 2 pack, because it was a little pricey and getting 2 felt like a better value. So glad I did. Thank you!!!

Hands down the best fly scattered I've ever used. Love the super sturdy stainless wire handle. No bending. The heavy leather scattered allows for better accuracy. It explodes flies! It also explodes yellow jackets no problem. This scattered is nice and long.

This is a stout fly swater. We bought it bc wasps keep getting in the living room and we bend the cheap fly swaters. This has killed lots of wasps with no problems. It came shipped a little funky but I put it between some books to straighten the leather and have had no problems since.

Since either no one has noticed or no one has mentioned it, this swatter contains NO leather. The word "leather" appears multiple times in the text and images associated with this product, but what I have just received is made of foam backed vinyl. It's quite common on products from China (as this one is) to see the word "leather" used to describe material that is completely synthetic and probably even vegan, with a leathery texture and appearance. FYI, at the same time, I purchased another similarly styled "Amish" swatter that IS clearly made from the skin of an animal. Not to say one is better than the other, but I simply want to point out that some "leather" swatters contain actual leather. All that aside, this seems like a great product. The vinyl/foam swatter is two layers and has a good heavy feel. It honestly might hold up as well or better than actual leather if cared for. The colored vinyl might also be less likely to leave marks on walls than dyed leather, which I've seen mentioned in reviews for other swatters, but I cannot comment on this. The handle appears to be steel (stiff and magnetic), possibly galvanized but not painted, heavier gauge than the flyswatters of yesteryear that many would associate with being punished by Mom (not myself of course, my mother was a saint and so was I. Mostly). I don't know if the heavier wire would hurt more or less, and don't condone such things.Luckily for this review, I happened to have a fly in my house when this item arrived. One swing and I was very pleased with the result. The swatter seems pleasurable to use so far. I will point out though, if anyone cares, the swatted fly stuck pretty solidly to the swatter upon impact. A light oiling might help this, but it's not a big deal to me.Great product so far. I'm looking forward to using it. I rushed to the computer though, to let any potential buyers know, that "leather" is just a word, and here it is misused and incorrect. 5 stars for the product, minus 2 for a blatant lie or unawareness as to what "leather" means in English.Don't hit your kids with it.

I was reluctant to buy due to price. I wanted the $1.95 version my grandmother used. Okay! I bought it anyway! It's great! The 21" gets you the distance you need. The leather/vinyl face gives it the weight needed to be swift and powerful. The handle is strong metal. Yes it can bend, as come complain, but so can an I-Beam with enough force. If you swat a hard-shelled insect this baby will do the trick. Previously, I was less than 50% successful with fly's. I've taken out about 60 fly's and only missed 2 with this baby--I was momentarily cross-eyed and two got away.

Well made won't come apart. Could have used a larger leather swatter!

They're steel and leather. I can't imagine anything lasting longer. I'm sure my great grand kids will be using these. The handles are heavy metal too… I'm a big guy… and when I swing these they don't bend like most swatters. I'm in love. The leather isn't floppy it's stiff… althought that might change over time.
