I’ve had my BGE for about two years, and I’ve gone through a few dozen bags of rando charcoal so far. Now that I’ve got a feel for how different woods burn, I wanted to change it up and get something new.I’m delightfully surprised there are so many gigantic pieces of lump charcoal — reviews are spot on. And half a bag into it, my experience is that it ignites quickly, burns consistently, and hot damn, it will get to 700F+ in 10 minutes.It does burn quickly if not tightly controlled. But I’m totally happy with the consistent 6+ hours it burned yesterday at 250-325. And IMO the eucalyptus wood flavor smells great and tastes mild. Will buy again.

So I'm giving this 4 stars, but it's probably closer to 4.5.First, I just want to mention the look/feel of Fogo: Of the brands I've tried, this is the truest "coal" I've ever come across. It's almost magical how huge the chunks are and how shiny and mineral-like they are. The visual presentation is in a league of its own.So why am I knocking off a star? Well, I have to agree with the other reviewers who say this stuff doesn't impart a lot of smoke flavor. And I think I know why - because it doesn't make much smoke! Seriously, these coals burn so clean it's crazy. So, I've started mixing them in with other brands like Cowboy or Royal Oak in a 50/50 mix. The flavor is great, and you throw off more smoke that way.I plan to buy another bag of Fogo when the first one runs out. There's something special about it, and I love the consistency of the large chunk size. But I can't say I'm likely to burn it by itself again. 4/5.

This is one of my favorite charcoals and it’s priced just right!! Nice size pieces in the bag, cooked 12 hours like a champ with no problems and held its temperature perfectly. I also love the mild flavor that is has. Definitely one to use again and again.

Easy to light, and burns hot. Doesn't impart a lot of smoke flavor, very light in flavor. Knocked a star for having really inconsistent sizes with one piece being a branch about the size of the entire bag. That happen with lump charcoal though...
