Why do we settle for tiny little plastic cheap diaper pails for our infants? They still smell, have to be emptied every 2-3 days. Instead, spend the money for industrial nursing home volume and get this. Zero smells, huge, much easier to operate than the plastic infant diaper pails. This is what we have all been asking for! Shame on all the baby stores for not carrying the Cadillac of diaper pails😆

Best diaper pail I’ve ever used. Worth the money.

Updated review posted 4/2024:So bummed to have to update this review. Originally, I gave this diaper pail 5 stars, but I'm decreasing it to 1 star because the pedal mechanism only lasted 6 months. We used it for our partially potty trained 2yr old (about 4-6 diapers a day) from 10/2023 and it started having trouble 1/2024. It eventually completely gave out and was no longer able to open the pail by the end of 3/2024. I contacted Foundations customer service because it failed while under the 1 year warranty, and they replied and worked through the issue very quickly, giving me the option to replace it or get a refund. This process only took about 2 weeks, and would have been resolved sooner, if I had been prompt on my end. They were VERY efficient on their end. 5 stars for the customer service team at Foundations.Original review, unchanged, posted 10/2023:Hubby and I have four kids with our fifth on the way. We've been around the block with multiple diaper pails--specifically the genie. Why I like it over the other diaper pails we've used:1. Large capacity. We've had kids in diapers and/or pull-ups for over nine years, sometimes three kids at a time. This thing technically could hold the capacity of two or three regular diaper pails before being "full." I actually have not hit "capacity" yet. I change the bag because of smell before I change the bag because of it being full.2. It takes regular trash bags and changing the bag is quick and easy.3. There is enough room in the pail compartment for a box of baking soda to help with the smell.4. It is heavy-duty and comes already assembled.5. Though I haven't done it yet, the canister compartment where you put the diaper is can be removed, disassembled, and cleaned. This feature likely will become important with the arrival of #5 and we're back in blow-out diaper phase.6. It is hands-free--step on the pedal, deposit diapers/wipes/garbage, release pedal and you're done.In hindsight, I wish I had known about this brand with our first or second child. I definitely would have put it on our baby registry or splurged ourselves and just bought this one. We definitely would have saved money in the long-run. If you're planning to have more than one or two children, do yourself a favor and get this the first time around. It is definitely superior to the pails we've tried.

I’ve had a couple babies before having my twins recently. I NEEDED a diaper pail that was smell proof. That’s asking for a lot but with twice as many diapers it was necessary. This product keeps the smell in the pail. The turning air lock design keeps the storage of dirty diapers from being exposed each time you drop a diaper in. The performance is excellent. It’s worth the price! And easy to use! I love it!! It holds a lot!! Some might think it to be too big, it is tall but not bulky. I would recommend this to all parents!!!

This only lasted just over 40 days. The stepping mechanism broke right away and no longer opens the lid. Not happy!

The cost is the biggest deterrent with the expectation that not having to use proprietary trash bags makes up for it in the long run. As long as you aren't expecting hermetically sealed level scent protection, I think most users will be satisfied with the improved reduction in odors.

I purchased this item to use at my child care center. The product broke the day it was delivered, and I contacted customer service to ask for assistance. They informed me that it was a common flaw that the tension reel needs to be tightened, but didn't mention that it required a special tool to fix. So, I contacted them again and they sent me the tool. Did I want to have to fix a $200 diaper pail within 5 hours of opening it? No. Did I anyway? Yes.Then, I returned it to the classroom "fixed," and it lasted about 2 more hours before the same issue returned. It's not worth the time, energy, or money to work this hard for a diaper pail. Save your money and never buy from this company.

I love it because it is simple and uses regular garbage bags. No smell except when changing bags. Large capacity. This was bought for personal use, it costs more but the money you save on supplies makes it worth it overall.
