What does the center green light mean?

In certain models, the center LED will turn green to indicate the exact center of the stud.

Stud finder, stud finder with bubble level, stud finder wall scanner, wood beam finder

What does the single blinking light mean?

Several of our models now have a low battery indicator. When the battery voltage is low, the second LED from the right will flash. Replace with two brand new batteries.

What batteries can I use?

For best results, use two brand new AA batteries.

What materials do your stud finders detect through?

Sheetrock/Drywall

Our stud finders work best through a single layer of sheetrock/drywall.

Lath and Plaster

While many customers have reported success using our stud finders through lath and plaster, detection is not guaranteed due to irregularities in plaster thickness.

Incompatible Surfaces

We do not recommend using our stud finders through stucco, exterior siding, double layers of sheetrock/drywall (common in condos, townhomes and home theaters), tile, wood flooring, carpet or roofing.

Worked on thick fire-resistant garage sheetrock and even scanned floor joists through 3/4" oak flooring over plywood subfloor. Simple to operate and LEDs are bright. Shows edges and slower scanning reveals stud center with green indicator. Shows electric lines in red via snall central LED separate gauge. Built in level is really unnecessary but pencil holder could be useful if your shirt has no pockets 😉 kind of awkward to use due to its long shape and too wide for some wall spaces, but so accurate and deep scanning that I can live with that. All in all, a great improvement over other wall scanners I own. Not inexpensive but worth the higher price.

Best stud finder I have ever used. Quality seems good, even though it is made of plastic. Time will tell. Works as described and I like that it identifies the center of the stud as well as both sides. Easy to use and provides accurate information. It is a bit pricey, but worth it IMO if it holds up.

The Franklin Sensors ProSensor M210 Stud Finder has earned its reputation as the world's best stud finder, and it's not hard to see why. With its advanced technology and intuitive design, locating studs behind walls has never been easier or more accurate. However, there is one small caveat to consider.Let's start with the positives. The ProSensor M210 utilizes multi-sense technology to detect studs in real-time, providing instant feedback on stud locations with unmatched accuracy. Its wide scanning area and deep sensing capabilities ensure that no stud is missed, even in the most challenging wall configurations. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in the hand, making it easy to maneuver and use, while the LED display provides clear visual indicators of stud locations for quick and precise identification. Whether you're a professional contractor or a DIY enthusiast, this stud finder streamlines the process of hanging shelves, mounting TVs, or any other task that requires locating studs. However, it's worth noting that while the ProSensor M210 excels at detecting wooden studs, its performance with high voltage wires may not be as reliable. While it's generally accurate in avoiding live electrical wires, there have been occasional instances where users have reported inconsistencies in detection. As such, it's wise to exercise caution and verify electrical wiring with additional tools when necessary. In conclusion, the Franklin Sensors ProSensor M210 Stud Finder sets the bar high for stud detection technology, offering unparalleled accuracy and ease of use. While its performance with high voltage wires may not be perfect, its overall reliability and effectiveness make it a must-have tool for any toolkit. Five stars for its game-changing capabilities and exceptional design.

I bought this stud finder because it was decently priced, and it has the ability to detect live electrical wires. For the price, the product works great, and it is easy to use. I like that it has a slot to insert a pencil for easily marking your spot. Overall, and good buy.CONS: Your fingers may get a workout if you find yourself scanning a lot of wall surfaces because you have to press down on the button the whole time.

I've had a Zircon E50 stud finder for almost 15 years, and it's served me well enough, but as a homeowner and with my wife wanting a lot more decorations, I knew I needed something more robust. The Zircon was OK, in that it was able to identify studs and gave a nice graphical (and audio) indicator, but the downside was that I still had to measure the left and right side of the studs to try to make sure I wasn't hitting an edge. The Franklin sensor is much nicer that it shows the entire width of the stud in a very easy visual indicator. I do wish it had a beep or audio feedback, but I can live without that. I bought the 13-sensor version, and it has a small pencil holder (which is VERY convenient), a built-in bubble level, and has notches along the top that you can use to make marks. I think this has been the fastest I have ever mounted something in my walls, so I'm extremely pleased. It takes 2 AA batteries which are much easier to replace than the 9V in the Zircon, so that's a big plus as well.I used the provided 15% off coupon from Franklin to buy the hard-sided case (from Amazon, who honored the coupon) to protect it, since it's not something I'd want just tossing around in my toolbag. I'll still use the Zircon in a pinch, but I'll definitely keep this tool close!

I have been using the same cheap stud finder that we all have been using for decades. I finally decided to purchase this stud finder. It is by far the best and most accurate stud finder I have ever used. With 13 sensors it illuminated the with of the stud perfectly. I especially like that this stud find makes no sound at all. There is no annoying beeping sound when you get to the center of the stud. Just one of the red indicator led's changes from red to green to mark the center of the stud. It does come with a live wire detector. It is not precise but it lets you know that there is a live wire some where close before you drill or screw into the stud. It is worth the price and I am very satisfied with its performance. I threw all my other old stud finders that I have collected over the years in the trash.

The Franklin Sensors ProSensor M210 is hands down one of the most accurate stud finders I’ve used. The 13 sensors ensure precise detection, and it quickly identifies studs over a wide area, giving you reliable readings every time. There’s no calibration needed, which saves time, and it’s incredibly user-friendly. However, the device is a bit bulkier than I expected, which can make it harder to use in tight spaces. Despite that, it’s a great tool for professionals and DIY enthusiasts who need accurate stud detection. Highly recommended for its performance and ease of use!

I spotted this on a YouTube video where a guy was fitting a kitchen. The speed and effectiveness were plain to see and clearly not staged. So I thought, try it and see (the one distinct advantage on Amazon - if it's not as described, send it back). This is staying! I took it my test wall, where I know studs are already in one part of the property, and when I came to locate other studs in other walls, the results were 100% positive every time. No relying on magnets to go screw-finding or potentially drilling hidden copper pipes or electric points. Sorted!Would you recommend this? To tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts, 100% yes.Value for money? In terms of saving time and not getting false positives, most definitely..

I bought this after moving into my first house for DIY use. I've used sensors in the past but they're a bit vague and require calibration, very hard to trust the results as they're always somewhat random. This equipment is great, as it displays real-time studs and their exact positions along the top. It would be nice to have some more details, but it's obvious enough I feel if it's a stud or a pipe. Pipes tend to be inconsistent whereas studs stay solid. The electricity detection seems accurate also, though you should use due diligence so as to not hit wires adjacent to studs.I think I will be using a combination of this and a secondary detector (to try determine materials and double-check pipe/cable positions) in the future, but I have used this many times and always hit studs directly.
