I have used this twice. But did the job nicelyNo errors. Would have been in deep trouble if i didn’t buy it, this saved my projectSucks to spend money for one project but this is a proper tool

First, the Instructions are terrible. Pictures, symbols (what do they mean?), no text. I found good videos on Youtube showing how to use it. Very Easy. I tried on an unfinished wall where I could see from nail dents where the studs are. Worked perfectly. Full of I confidence, I tried it on the shower tile. It seemed to work perfectly, showing location of middle of the stud. Scanned down vertically with several readings in the same line. Drilled the first hole . . . no wood in sight. Tried three more readings to mid-stud. On the third I found the edge of a stud . . . or some wood.

Do not let your DeWALT brand loyalty trick you into wasting money on this piece of junk. I dropped and broke my old stud finder and while looking for a replacement, I checked to see if DeWALT made one. I am a loyal DeWALT owner, almost to the point of obsession. I ignored the negative reviews on this item thinking the negative reviews stemmed from the owners not using it properly, as is often the case. I WAS WRONG. This is a complete piece of trash. I even thought it was my fault and actually read the directions, something I seldom do. This stud finder is still TRASH. For some reason, it is also listed as having hazardous chemicals or gases?? This means you can't automatically return it. You have to physically call Amazon to try and return it. Amazon didn't even want it back, they just refunded my money and told me to throw it away.In short, this doesn't accurately find studs in even the simplest of applications. It will detect electrical wires from 2 feet away though, but won't give you an accurate location of them behind drywall.DO NOY BUY THIS. You have been warned.....

Do not buy this. I purchased this based on the good name Dewalt has. I have many Dewalt tools which are excellent so was very disappointed to find that you have a better chance finding a stud with a Ouija board than this so called stud finder. I have tried it on four different projects since I purchased it last month and it has an 8 per cent accuracy rate in finding studs, but it will find electrical wires .

It just beeps randomly and I don’t think it ever accidentally detected an electrical wire behind the plaster board. Useless.
