5 Piece Round Over/Beading Bit Set (1/4" Shank)
Amazon.com
The Freud Five-Piece Round Over and Beading Bit Set softens the edges of fine furniture. A 3/8-inch bearing is included to convert all five bits to beading bits, which help you produce a simple, decorative edge on furniture and moldings. Housed in a wooden storage box, these 1/4-inch shank bits cut all composition materials, plywood, hardwood, and softwood, and can be used on hand-held and table-mounted routers.
What's in the Box

All of the my heavy duty router bits are Freud brand because I know they are the highest quality, the sharpest and durable. This set was no exception. They cut a perfect groove for today's plywood sizes - I have used the bits for 3/4, 1/2" and 3/8" plywood and they perform perfectly with minimal tear-out. I love the box, it protects the bits and stacks in my router bit drawer perfectly. Definitely recommend

Freud tools arent cheap but you get what you pay for. They are professional quality. If I dont screw these up, they will last me the rest.of my life. The case they come in is a nice touch too

I have a small woodworking shop and use these bits on my trim router and router table when making furniture and cutting boards. Freud bits are the best bits I’ve owned. Wont buy anything else. If you want quality, but Freud!

I have used the 3/4" bit to cut 1/4" deep dados in maple plywood for cabinet shelves. The cut is very clean, just a little bit of fuzz from the veneer that easily sanded off.For my particular plywood, the dados were extremely tight. Next time I'll adjust my jig and make sure to do a second pass on the other side of the cut to give the shelf a little more room.I've also used the 1/4" bit to cut large holes in some 1/4" plywood. Worked great--cut the wood like butter. There was a fair amount of veneer fuzz with the 1/4" bit, but these are mid-range straight blade bits, so I am not too picky about their cuts.As others have noted, the Freud router bit cases are downright dangerous. The bits are so sharp, and the bits are held in the case so tight, that it sometimes makes me nervous getting them out. I always have to wear leather work gloves when removing any Freud bit from its case, and even then, I am careful. I have put some silicone on the bit shaft to make them easier to remove, but the cases are just too tight. Do NOT attempt to remove the bits with your bare hands. They will cause some damage.

Like others have said , either they have increased the finished size of the plywood or these bits are just a hair too small. But are sharp with a slight up angel for cleaning out the wood chips so they do work well.

I just cut down some plywood for cabinet panels. It was 1/4" and my regular 1/4" router bit was giving me plenty of slop. I bought this set and the undersized 1/4" bit gave the panel a perfect fit. One tip, though... The fit is so tight that you might have a hard time sliding the panel in. I sanded off the edges just a bit but not too far into the panel that it would show beyond the rabbet. Panels now slide in but show very snug.

Amazon needs to update their pictures! I was expecting a wooden case with the old two wing cutters, all with the standard 1/2†bearings, what I got was an updated case and their new four wing cutters, most with much larger oversized bearings, plus one smaller bearing for doing bead profiles. This set is a huge upgrade over the pictured set. Of course there are several cheaper options on Amazon, nobody beats Freud quality, sharpness or carbide life. Can’t wait to put these to work.

Really, don’t mess around with the cheap stuff. If you can afford these guys you won’t regret it. Sharp, accurate, great box. Yes, they are difficult to remove from the holder initially, but I would rather that than have them loose and knocking about in the box during transit.

Just received today. Bits are in *tight* collars and razor-sharp, so use a tool to pr them out the first time lest you slice a finger open. Really appreciate finding these specialty sizes in 1/2" shank. They're available for less with 8mm shanks, but I suspect most of us in North America still use routers with Imperial collets (and the price difference between 8mm and 1/2" isn't enough to buy a metric router).

Smooth cuts without any burning, a must have for working with plywood. Perfect snug fit every time.Comes in a little Freud stand that is a little too large for these alone, but convenient if you do not already have a stand for router bits. Can't go wrong with Freud
