Precision shear forstner bits feature a double-ground, razor-sharp serrated edge that slices throughout the rotation of the bit for less splintering and chipping, producing flawless flat-bottom holes. This unique geometric design has multiple cutting edges that produce greater shearing action, allowing for faster rotational speeds and more efficient cutting. Competitive forstner bit designs produce small chips and dust that collect in the cutting area, increasing friction and heat, thus causing the bit to dull quickly. Those designs also create holes with rough edges that require sanding. In addition to serrated edges, precision shear forstner bits include a hardened steel body for longer life and sharper edge, an ultra sharp spur to ensure accurate holes and less "walking", and steep angled cutting edges to produce holes that are smooth and flat.

Arrived quickly and is factory product! Sharp and correct diameter! Does what it is designed to do, which is to cut holes! With a drill press you cut on an angle and have an angled hole for various applications! Great product!!

As others have stated, this is perfect for boring sockets for large dowels in projects. The serrated edges seem to do a very good job in creating clean edges. It does a good job pulling shavings out of the bore hole on bit extraction. I was able to use it to bore completely through a small section of 4x4 to make a poor man's mallet with no binding or other issues. For the price, it's a great addition to your drill press.

Looks weird, performs amazing. I was skeptical but I use a lot of forstners and this one wins by a lot.

Works well on plastic. Have to apply light pressure and go slow. Out of the 23 holes I cut, I only got two minor cracks in the plastic. I'd say that was user error as well. Sturdy bit too, I don't see it going dull.Also, it didn't walk at all really. I was drilling on a vertical tub wall as well, so that's actually impressive.

Stays sharp and cuts a clean hole. I've only used it on plywood and MDF though.

When I needed a Forstner Bit that was up to the task - this one didn't disappoint.The price differences among tools in general and bits in particular prove the adage "you get what you pay for." This bit did well - will buy again.
