Loud even on the lowest setting. Almost not usable if you want to have a conversation or watch TV in the room. Very disappointed.

I did a lot of research before I purchased this unit. It is surprisingly quiet. Looking at the construction, I can see that is a quality product which I found out is made in the USA (Hoorah). I'm going out of my way to not purchase anything made in China. I probably paid a few dollars more but guess what, they actually have tech support that isn't in an other country. It's been 2 weeks know any we have encountered some really hot days but I've remained cool in my humble abode. This is also on of the most energy efficient AC's on the market. The bottom line is I am very satisfied with my purchase. I believe this is the largest unit you can but without having to install a 240 volt line.

I installed this a few months ago, and it's done its job through a very hot summer. Not as quiet as I'd hoped it would be, but it's strong, clean, and reliable. The remote control has a digital display, which creates a lag time between click and function, and I find it incredibly annoying. I finally put it away and just change the functions manually on the unit itself.

Too loud on low —- too hard to read display as well as the remote display which is hard to navigate/ understand. Bought 6000 btu model last year for bedroom. They both act similarly . Disappointed but they both cool well . So you might need to turn your volume higher and speak louder to others . Was a service tech for Friedrich and owned several that lasted for 20 + years. Again disappointed.

Ok so this is a well put together machine but you would expect it to last longer than 3 years. Purchased in 2021 and dead in 2024. It turns on but only runs as a fan. Constantly. Even on the eco setting. The compressor no longer kicks on. The machine has been well cared for, filters cleaned and the compressor fins vacuumed regularly. Additionally we had 2 other Friederichs that were 5000 and 6000 btus , both did the same thing. Wonderful when they worked but now they’re just very expensive fans. Can’t recommend this brand anymore.

Low fan speed is like other brands medium, causes higher noise level. Remote does not illuminate so any desired control changes at night will require turning on a light to see remote options. Unit looks great and cools great.
