They are made from CNC machined PVC plastic, and will not rot like MDF (medium density fiberboard) or wood. Some companies produce a few models of universal speaker adapters, which they intend to fit a lot of vehicles. The problem with producing universal speaker adapters, is that they never really fit any one vehicle very well. We never produce universal speaker adapters. All of our speaker adapters are vehicle specific, to ensure a perfect fit. In addition to proper fitment, our speaker adapters are tough as nails. Whether replacing worn speakers or simply upgrading, our speaker adapters will allow you to install your aftermarket speakers with ease.

These work great. I put in 6.5 SKAR speakers in my rear deck. Inside diameter had to be made wider to fit, but they work!

As a question states, this does work in the rear deck as well. However, it is WAY to thick. No way to get the speaker in and install the factory speaker grill. The speaker sits up too high. If this same mount was 1/8" or so thick, it would be great. However, I would not recommend it for the rear deck. Might work on the door speakers (as advertised) just fine though. I guess I'll find out when my kid blows those speakers. 😃That said, it was advertised to work for the door, and that is not how I used it. For the $7 or so, it was worth the gamble. I can say for certain the it did an excellent job of allowing me to mount my new speakers into the adapter, and while the adapter was too thick for the rear window, the holes did line up, but it was a snug fit. While it wasn't perfect, it was worth the price and worked as advertised.

It worked fine to install 6.5" Rockford Fosgate R165-x3 rear deck speakers on my 325i 2002 Bmw. You do have to trim a little of the inside to sit the speakers in them but it is not that difficult.

These things aren't even close to fitting (in any way) out of the box. 5.25 speaker mounting holes won't even touch edges of the rings. They need some serious filing to fit in the doors, overall, a total waste.

This adaptors needed some trimming all around to install. It would have been better if it was already fit form instead of having to trim and test fit a few times to be able to install to speaker then adapt more to fit to door panel.

Work as advertised but you have to shave some material away from the 3 main mounting holes or get a longer bolt.
