The garden auger works well.

As the description and other reviewers had mentioned, the auger is rather short. I bought it to mainly drill holes in my garden for planting and it does the job nicely. I have compacted sandy soil that’s hard to dig through and this makes the job more manageable. The hardest part was getting past the lawn. The holes it drilled are plenty big enough for most bulbs and maybe small poles. Unless your fencing pieces are very thin, I would recommend a larger auger (like the one offered through the Amazon UK store). Since it dug through garden sand/soil well, I might have to bring this to the beach to make staking the umbrella a bit easier.

I expected some material issues since it was made in China. The fasteners included were a real disapointment. The bolts and wing nuts provided were too soft. I actually stripped the threads on the bolts while tightening the wing nuts. At my age I don't have that kind of strength. I'm going to have to find nuts and bolts of hardened steel. It has worked so far, but I question how long it will last.

Ease of assembly, and easy to use. Being that I needed a tool for limited/occasional use, I wanted an inexpensive but sturdy tool. I have used it most effectively to dig some deep post holes for a privacy panel and am very satisfied with the results. A nice tool to have on hand!

I used to have an auger that was about four feet long made in one solid piece. It would claw through anything. When I went to look for it in the shed, it was missing. It must have been loaned to someone who loved it more than I did. After keeping my eye out for one for several years, I saw this one. It was a little shorter than my old one (by about half), but I gave it a shot. When I got an message that the item had been delivered, I went out on the porch where it was supposed to be. I rolled back the security cameras and didn't see it being delivered.THEN I read the tracking notice where it said it had been delivered inside my mailbox. That can't be true, I thought. I don't see an auger sticking out the front and back of my standard size box.Yep, it WAS inside the box. It shipped with the auger, a short extension and the handle in pieces. The parts were held together by bolts and wingnuts.Even tightened all the way down, there is a significant wiggle factor involved. There is a good chance it's going to be headed back. On the plus side, I don't think there is much danger that anyone is going to want to steal it from me.

Got some landscape timbers from home depot and cut them in half. This auger made the perfect 18-20" deep hole to put these post in vertical. Ran some 1 1/4" rope from post to post. Worked perfect for my project. Made 10 holes and still looks almost new.

I expected a tool with sharp edges that could cut into dirt and spiral it upwards. Nope. There’s no use for this tool, other than after the dirt has been tilled and loose. Perhaps them one could use it to displace the tilled and loosened, for planting bulbs. Otherwise, it’s a complete waste of $$.

I use this auger for planting bulbs. It makes quick and easy work--far easier that the standard little bulb planters. I prefer NOT to use an electric or battery-operated drill attachment, so this hand tool is perfect for me.

I purchased auger to use as a sand anchor for daytime moorage of my Sea-Doo instead of putting it on the sad and scratching the bottom. I’ve used it for over a week and I found it to work very well. This was a much cheaper option to others I looked at.

More of a novelty item for planting maybe. I did not find useful for normal Canadian ground but could be useful in loose soil or sand maybe
