I used the largest auger with my cordless drill to plant bare root trees and shrubs. I was concerned that the cordless drill might not have enough power to drill in drier, hard soil, but it worked very well. The battery lasted to drill 80 holes and still had charge left. The auger made a hole that was adequate size to plant the trees and shrubs and saved a lot of digging with a shovel. The smaller augers would probably work for smaller plants and bulbs, but I haven't tried doing that.

These really work well. I replanted my front yard bed and the previous owner had used rock as mulch and the bed had a lot of roots. Even after raking the top layer of rock, I couldn't even get a shovel through it. After digging a few holes by hand with a small trowel, I said there has to be a better way, so I bought the augers. Wow what a difference. I use the large auger and drill several holes. The auger cuts through the roots and churns up the rock so it's easy to dig with a shovel. I used the small and medium auger depending on the size of plant. Works great!

I rarely leave reviews so when I do pay attention.I live in mid-state South Carolina where the soil is neither sand or clay, it is mostly like asphalt and you never use a shovel to dig a hole, A pickaxe is the only tool that gets the job done. I used these augers on the end of my corded drill (my cordless just didn't have enough power) and they powered through dirt, rock, and roots in seconds to make a hole for my plantings. If I needed a larger hole, I just used it to ream out the sides of the hole until it met my needs. These augers are solidly built and can handle just about any digging chore. The only thing I would caution you about is to go slow when drilling and "feel" for obstructions. The auger can get temporarily caught on a root or rock formation and jerk the drill out of your hands. I learned that by slowing down and moving more deliberately I was able to overcome this issue. This is a purchase you will not regret.

??! how many tools for a small amount of money. What a GREAT Deal and bargain!!! Thanks so much! I will NEVER plant anything again without these. Three (3) tools in the package. This fastens to your regular drill, and digs a hold for tomatoes, or plants or shrubs in about 30 seconds!! Who knew

This product was terrific! My husband hooked it to his portable drill and drilled all the holes for 100 daffodil bulbs. We got all of these bulbs planted in less than 2 hours!! We live in mountainous, rocky terrain and the holes could not have been dug so easily.

They're sturdy you'll burn up your drill before they'll break. I think in a softer soil than the hard pan I have they would be amazing. I can get the small one to work. If the larger two had the same tip I believe they would be much more capable of harder ground. The gloves are a joke the little claws are glued on and fell off within 20 minutes of use. Still for the price and knowing if I predrill with smaller one I can get large ones to work, yeah I'm not disappointed. Not the best deal I ever got but adequate for price.

I really expected that the first root I hit was going to bend the blades. Nope... I was boring next to a huge pine tree with more roots than you can imagine... unless you've dug next to a pine tree. lol It tore thru the many feeder roots and my drill would stall when I hit larger roots. I dug 6- 3 inch diameter holes. Each hole took about 30 seconds to 1 minute to complete with me rocking the auger side-to-side to make the diameter wider. Blades were undamaged E-Z to use. Had to laugh about the glove with wolverine claws on the fingers. I didn't use it but it reminded me of the old Soupy Sales show with White Fang and Black Fang. (:
