I've used two of these rotary switches on lamps with three bulbs. The switch allows turning on one, two or all three bulbs at once. There's no secret to wiring it up if you have even a little familiarity with electricity. Black is 120VAC source. Red goes to bulb 1, Blue goes to bulbs 2 and 3. Switch starts at off, next click powers Red wire, next click powers Blue wire, next click powers both Red and Blue, next click goes back to off. Make sure to adjust the hex nut so that just the brass knob shows (and none of the plastic core). Remember that on lamp wire (aka zipcord), the hot side has the smooth edge and the neutral has the textured edge. Hot side of the plug is the thinnest of the two blades. If you wire it backwards you risk giving someone a shock (perhaps even you). One thing to be aware of is that this switch is rather tall, so if you have limited room, it might not fit depending on just where the hole is.

I am restoring an old vintage fan and the original switch was still operational but had been twisted and needed repacement. Finding something that looked close was, what I thought, would be a tough job. This looked so close but upon arrival I could easily see that it was an exact duplicate of that original.It was an easy install as it even had the same original wire strips to make the fit easy. It operates as origianl. Just turn the button to turn the fan on and then off. It has a noticable click indicating that it is a tight build. Does not heat up showing that the contact inside was making a good connection.Best of all, it was priced so very affordably. Very happy with this one.

I could not believe that the old lamp switch had the same colors so I had a simple job of connecting the switch properly the first time.Love the way it works. Didn't think I would ever find a vendor with this switch.

This is a basic functioning switch. Works, looks right, but my 95 year old mother finds it so difficult to turn the switch, she just leaves the light on all day and sometimes takes the bulb out of the fixture to turn it off. I find the switch hard myself, but I can still do it. There is more plastic on this model than the worn out switch I replaced. I can't see that it will last quite as long.

The easel lamp on my workbench is so old I can’t remember. The switch finally wore out. This is a perfect replacement, and it came with a spare! Much cheaper than buying a new lamp!Difficultly of installation had more to do with the tight fit inside the lamp and was no fault of the part.
