Absolutely perfect fit and function. My 2001 f350 has 380k on it and the belt started to loose some of it's ribs. Replaced belt and within a short time it did it again so time to investigate. Found this tensioner is worn and cocking to the side from wear and making causing the belt to wander off to the side which in time will start to loose ribs. So this tensioner is the fix and best of all it is made in Canada and not China.

I don't write many reviews, but this pulley assembly was so bad it was warranted. The machining of the product was extremely poor but what was worse is that both the upper and lower pulley assembly bearings were shot. I could easily get a 3/32" play on each pulley. Complete junk, this thing was a disaster waiting to happen. Stay away from the Gates products which is made in China. I purchased a Gates Idler pulley at the same time, it was made in Canada and the quality is excellent.

If installing a new belt at the same time, this assembly will not adjust enough to get the new belt on. Removed the wheels from the new unit and installed them on the old one. Was able to install the new belt.

Time will tell on the longevity this unit gives, but I will say, I'm so glad right now that I saved the $35 from the motorcraft unit. Comparing the 2, the gates unit is machined very nice and the gates unit is much heavier. This leaves me to believe it is better quality overall from the motorcraft this one replaced. I suppose if I get 223k out of it then it'll be officially superior. When I pulled the old one, the center bolt was wedged pretty good due to the two halves seperating. Had to beat the bolt out with a punch. This gates part appears more robust where the two halves meet. Gates makes very nice stuff. After seeing this I think I'll pick up one of their water pumps for the 7.3. Gotta love this engine and the auto industry still creating updated stronger parts for it. I'll probably never sell my truck. Why would I if amazon keeps selling parts for it. You don't even have to be smart to order parts for your truck on here!

I picked it up and immediately felt how heavy it was. Bearings are smooth and feels like it will work just fine. 2002 7.3 powerstroke 247k
