Used these exact filters for years in our GE Whole House Water Filtration Systems. Works with the older model# GXWH20F & the latest #GXWH20T. Extending the length of time between replacements has led me to trust up to 12 months of use between filter changes.Yes, up to 12 months without noticing diminished flow or filtration. This is in a household of 5, as the only water filter & with superb Colorado Springs city water quality.

I got these to replace the 2 separate water filters on my boat. We don’t drink the water on the boat but we use it for bathing, etc. The water had a slight odor from the holding tank, these certainly helped. The filters do not restrict water flow and help reduce particles from clogging the faucets. They were priced very good and shipped in one day. They were an exact fit for the standard under the sink housing I have below deck. I will definitely buy again!

I have noticeable smelly cold water and this does help. Up until recently, I have not been able to guage the effective length of service for the filter to keep the bad smell down. I notice that I last changed the filter exactly 2 months ago and the smellyiness has just returned. This is with two users in a house with well water. The above comments are without routing drinking water thru a faucet mounted activated charcoal Pur filter. This renders the water quite drinkable......I drink a lot of this. For water coming through an electric hot water heater, which liberates h2s,sulfur smell, i had a corro protec titanium anode installed ($129 parts+plumber installation). I got this on amazon. That was a vast improvement. I also have a soft water system that didn't do much about smells but is a noticeable improvement for the hardness. Altogether with everything, I now have an acceptable well water.

JAN 2025 update - I had bought a cheaper brand filter, a 3pack, listed as "fits GE" but weeks after installing it as directed it seemed my water tasted unfiltered, and smelled like chlorine (water treatment plants add chlorine to keep your water safe, but it smells like bleach. Drinking that cant be too good for you! That's why I filter my water). When I took the cheaper filter out I found it had partially collapsed, see my second pic, so it allows water to leak around the gasket and you don't get fully filtered water. The cheaper filters do NOT have an internal framework, so after time they collapse under pressure (as mine did) and to make it worse, could add particulates to your drinking water!!! Folks spend a few more cents, for much better quality, buy the GE filters. The GE brand filter uses activated charcoal and filters out chlorine and many other chemicals and particulates from city water supplies and it fits the GE housing perfectly, also notice the internal plastic framework in my first pic - this is crucial to keep the filter from collapsing under normal water pressure. I use this filter for my kitchen sink cold water supply and it lasts about a year with average use with 2 people.

I have a GE Smartwater GXWH20F. All 4 of these filters (FXUSC, FXWPC, FXWSC, and FXWTC) are interchangeable in the system per the user manual, so it's a matter of price/preference which one to use.Up until now we stuck with the FXUSC since that was what the previous homeowners had left as a spare and we saw no reason to change it, however in recent years the availability of that filter has been a little more sporadic in local stores, so this was my first time ordering the FXWTC which I believe is supposed to filter out sediment to a smaller 5 micron size as well as filter out chlorine. (Which I don't quite understand, we could tell when the FXUSC was in desperate need of changing because we could start smelling chlorine again, so not sure what the true difference is there as it was clearly also filtering chlorine to some degree. There's lots of conflicting info about the filters and their specs around.)If you've never used one of the three white filters - the FXWTC is black with a mesh surround - I really do encourage you to try one once. The color those filters turn might shock you! I have Midwestern rust water. That aside, these filters fit my system perfectly and I received genuine GE parts, so no issues there. If you haven't done it lately, you may want to order some food grade silicone grease for the O-ring in the system while you're at it, and get that bucket and towel ready.
