My daughter bought me another Kalimba for my birthday recently. I play the piano, organ, guitar, tin whistle and recorder also. I was having a really difficult time playing it for one simply reason. My fingers are not long and slender, they are medium length and I suffer from some neuropathy causing my fingers to swell some. I was double hitting notes all the time. I knew I had to do something so I went searching. This is the only one I could find that had the wider tines with a little more space between them.It comes in the key of B which can be difficult since almost everything out there is in the key of C. My solution was to retune to the key of C which took me around 30 minutes using a free application on my Android phone called, "Universal Tuner". I used it already to tune my guitars and my adjustable tin whistles. I also use an application called, "Kalimba Connect" which I had to pay for but for me who has been schooled on site reading musical scores all my life, the tablature musical scores are very difficult for me to adjust to.Now for the quality, it has a beautiful tone that resonates well and provides a pleasing chime like tone. The instrument is well constructed and I really like how I can adjust the space between the tines as well as the key it plays in. I really love this brand, it is the same one "April Yang" uses whenever she plays.I will likely purchase one of the solid wood versions by the same company soon so I can tune this back to the key of "B" and have one I keep in the key of "C". Why would I do this, I am schooled in classical music and the only key most of it is in for the Kalimba is the key of "B". There are good PDFs you can purchase and download from "Kalimba Magic" and "KtabS" the company that makes the Ktabs software that allows you score your own tablature musical scores. Yes you have to purchase the books but most are inexpensive. I use it for creating PDFs from different "YouTube" videos from "April Yang" and many others. I do not recommend this unless your like me and find it hard to follow along with the moving tab music out there.If you want a Kalimba that has a beautiful tone, is easier to hit the notes right for beginners like me, and is well made, this instrument is a great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone else that finds themselves constantly pressing two tines instead of one. Yes sometimes you need to press two and more when sounding chords. That is not the case for most beginners who are simply trying to get a song from beginning to end that sounds like a song.

I currently have several starter/budget kalimbas that sound great. However, I was looking for a more sophisticated model that sounded unlike my beginners. Excellent item for those who want to upgrade to a high quality instrument. Nice heft and feel overall knowing that it will last many years in addition to, enduring hours of daily use. Curly maple mostly makes this Gecko resonate more so when playing there's no dead pauses in sound. Doesn't have that hallow-sounding echo a lot of other models have either -beautiful ring and sustained harmonies chime together. My only criticism is that the notes/numbers can be difficult to see as they are small and discretely marked on the times -so as not to cheapen or detract from it's look, perhaps? Handsome wood and beautiful tiger grain round out this gorgeous piece -I'm certain no two Gecko curly maples are identical in look. Comes with all the usual extras (cleaning cloth, hammer, etc.) but, the hard shell case is an added bonus to preserve this beauty. Very well done Gecko!

This Gecko kalimba is very special. It's made out of curly maple, which is a beautiful wood. The blue color just shows off the grain of the wood even more. It's very well constructed. The tines are well finished, and are perfectly aligned. There are NO dead tines. The sound is crisp, clear, and pure. Very relaxing. Nice volume as well. Really love this one!

This was a surprise for my son for Christmas, and he was delighted! He is an adult, and he loved playing it right out of the box. There is an instruction book, but he just played random notes, and it has a beautiful tone. He was able to pick out simple songs like "Christmas Time is Here" from A Charlie Brown Christmas, just by experimenting with the keys. It is a beautiful turquoise and comes with a nice sturdy case, along with a tuning hammer...which he has not had to use yet, as it was in tune when he opened it. I highly recommend this thumb piano for anyone who wants a little music in their life.

I love the look, feel, and sound of this Kalimba but I was very disappointed that my Kalimba was late to arrive and arrived with scuff marks on both ends of the Kalimba. I don’t want to do a return for such minor scratches.. seeing as there are currently no available black colored Kalimbas but I am not happy it came like that. If I buy a new Kalimba, I expect to get a new Kalimba.Buyer beware! Thank goodness this wasn’t a gift for someone else.

This kalimba sounds beautiful. The lower notes resonate with one another and each note holds its tone long enough for the sounds to combine. I read that this "curly maple" wood resonates longer than other types of kalimbas, so if that's what you're looking for, get it.The higher notes don't hold at all and they sound a little tinny. However, that's just the reality of a kalimba.The case it comes with is sturdy and DEFINITELY worth getting this one instead of a model that only comes with a felt bag. It takes a while to get everything in tune, and you'll need a hard shell to keep it that way.

Sounds good, looks good, good price. Comes with book for basic tips but I am musical already so I just figured it out. Much better thing to pick up and fiddle with than picking up your phone and seeing the negativity that is social media. Great product for price. No complaints.

Das Päckchen kam äußerlich absolut intakt an, wenn auch nicht sehr gut geschützt. Nach dem Auspacken dann die böse Überraschung ein Riss verläuft über die Oberseite. Das ist nach langer Wartezeit besonders ärgerlich.
