I purchased this because I needed to stake the castle nut on my most recent Aero Precision build. Worked super well and was much easier than anticipated. If you are using this punch for staking a castle nut, just make sure not to put it too close to the edge. I always do a very small pilot dimple and then when I'm happy with the location I slowly worked the hammer and punch on the dimple and voila, it's staked.If you're unsure about how to stake, there are a ton of great tutorials on youtube that I recommend watching.

Arrived today and it is sharp and follows a prick punch hole easily. I have had many of these and all seem to have a limited number of clicks. I find that this one required no messing around as the others usually did.This punch will not be used for general use as it makes the desired follow up depression from a prick punch.I would not recommend this on for the usual abuse as it is far better than those suited for bigger jobs while doing one of a kind layouts. If you need a huge dent, buy a punch designed for making a huge dent and choke up 100% on a 2 pound hammer to make the blow. Most folks have no idea as to how to hit a punch with a hammer and find the punch has flown away making a mess of the job. And often their fingers. Do it right with the right tool and get a prefect painless result.

Works well as I don't know what "J" is talking about - the tool isn't "self centering, it marks were you place the point and it doesn't take itself apart mysteriously(???). Good tool and is good quality. It isn't industrial quality but you are not paying for an industrial tool. Works well and is simple to use.

A replacement for an older General that got lost. Quality seems a bit less, no longer made in USA, but this new one was actually less money than the old, and it is the same design as far as I can tell. We'll see if it lasts.

Very well made and has good adjustment. At highest setting it takes a good push to fire it, so stronger would likely be impractical. That said, I do wish it had a harder strike. It is far easier with this to get very accurate punch placement than with a hammer and punch.

Works great for a year to year and a half. Spring mechanism will stop working. I don't use them every day, but the days I need them they can bop 50-60 in a day.

Absolutely love my center punch. Comes in handy for marking spots for nail or screws holes. Plus, its fun to make punch marks on pieces of wood as art.

Lo desarmé por curiosidad y cuando lo ensamblé el golpe lo hacÃa solo veces. Ensamblarlo es muy sencillo en realidad, lo único a cuidar es que incluye una pequeña pieza redonda por un lado y plana del otro como una mini pastilla, esta pieza va ENTRE la punta y el poste con resorte, si se fijan la punta termina en una pequeña bola en el extremo interno, bueno pues la pieza pequeña "PASTILLA" va a quedar el lado de la bola hacia la punta y la parte plana hacia el poste con resorte, yo la puse al revés y esto hacÃa que funcionara el golpe a veces, al colocarlo bola con bola, quedo perfecto. Y ya funciona DE MARAVILLA!!!!!

Hadn't expected such a well designed and well built center punch so I'm a happy camper! Just press the tip onto the spot to be drilled and suddenly Wap! and the internal spring produces a strong hammer action that imprints the needed mark on the material. Want the imprint deeper? Just repeat the process!

Poinçonner de la tôle, j'en ai acheté deux et après une heure d'utilisation aucune ne fonctionnait correctement. Je les ai retournées. Très déçu car j'ai plusieurs outils General et je suis très satisfait.
