About this item

  • Updated - Easy to Measure for Accurate Size – Simply follow the guide on Picture 3 to learn how to measure your new muzzle to get the right size for your dog. The adjustable strap makes it easy to get the best fit for your dog’s snout and mouth. Customer support is here to help with any sizing questions or issues.
  • Bonus Connection Strap for More Secure Fit – For dogs who need more time adjusting to their new muzzle, we’ve added a bonus connection strap that goes over their head for a secure fit that no dog can get out of.
  • Improved design to prevent biting, barking, and unwanted chewing – This muzzle is great for limiting your dog's ability to bite, chew and bark while still allowing your dog to breathe, pant, and drink water. It’s a humane choice for preventing unwanted biting or chewing. See our images for examples.
  • Comfortable Neoprene Padding. Zero Chafing – Save your dog from painful chafing and rough straps. Most muzzles are painful and can rub your dog’s skin raw. GoodBoy makes a comfy, humane muzzle that keeps your dog happy.
  • High Quality Sliders. No Cheap Buckles – The sliders ensure that your dog can’t loosen the straps while giving you more control over the exact fit. Plus, loose ends can be secured with a hook and loop fastener, unlike with buckles.

First thing's first. I have two adult Great Danes and was tempted to just order the XL or XXL because that's how I have to order pretty much everything for them BUT I decided not to be a lazy bones and got out the tape measure. SO GLAD I DID! Turns out they're both a large - despite being massive everywhere else their snouts are apparently of average girth. I almost didn't believe it and still ordered XL but when the large arrived and I put it on them both I realized I made the right decision trusting the measurements. So, first tip: DO THE MEASURING!Now, my Danes don't have a violent bone in their bodies so I knew I didn't need the kind of muzzle that covered their whole face to prevent biting. My issue is barking - specifically standing up on their hind legs to look over the 6 foot cinder block wall in our back yard and bark at the new neighbor. He's a UPS guy so I guess they feel some kinda way about him in particular. Over the years with previous dogs I've tried the gambit of anti-bark products and haven't really been totally happy with any of them so I decided to give this a try this time around. My plan was thus: put the dogs outside, when they start barking give them a verbal correction, if they continue barking bring them in, put the muzzles on them and then send them back out - then remove the muzzles entirely when they come back inside. I felt like it would send a clear message of 'you bark outside, you wear the muzzle outside'. No bark, no muzzle.I should mention I applied the muzzles as directed (perhaps a bit looser around the snout than intended but I was really just trying to prevent a full blown open mouthed bark) but did not need to use the over-the-head strap or the collar strap, both of which are included in the box. Shockingly - it seems to have worked after only one day! Now, I'm not saying both dogs are cured of barking at the neighbor (too soon to make that call)) but since they're mostly indoor dogs and only go outside when they want and are brought back in when they ask - the first day was very productive. Things went precisely as planned - outside, barking, correction, barking, muzzle, back outside until they asked to come in, muzzles off. My male needed only one experience with the muzzle to decide barking wasn't worth it and then stopped barking over the back wall entirely and now only barks over the front gate if someone is approaching the house - which I'm happy with. The female needed two iterations with the muzzle to decide there are better ways to spend her outside time. The black muzzle arrived in the mail three days ago but I didn't need to use it even once yesterday or the day before, the blue one is supposed to arrive this coming Sunday and it seems I may not even need it now.All-in-all, WELL WORTH THE MONEY. Perhaps the most effective training tool yet!Regarding product specifics: The inside padding is very nice and soft and made me feel less guilty about putting a muzzle on a dog. Both dogs tried to use their paws to remove the muzzle at first but quickly seemed to realize it wasn't coming off and gave up. The straps and buckles are HEAVY DUTY STUFF which makes adjusting to get the right sizing a bit difficult and there is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to figuring out how to put it on them correctly as, in the beginning, it seemed as though there were straps and buckles just everywhere. I do understand that the sturdiness of the straps and buckles would be a huge asset to someone with a particularly stubborn dog but for us, removing the overhead strap helped simplify the contraption as a whole and made it easier for myself and my husband to figure out putting it on them. No doubt with some practice (should it be needed) we could become quite adept at a quick application. As a lifelong dog lover and professional breeder I have to give props to this product in terms of its humane treatment of the animal. Would I ever consider leaving this product on a dog long term - no. Would I admonish someone who did for say, a dog that gets in the trash or eats furniture ... let's just say I would try to encourage them to use it as a training tool rather than a long-term solution but the product does seem to be gentle and safe. Just - please remember to remove it regularly to give the muzzle rubs and scratches and keep it clean and to wipe the interior padding off regularly with a damp towel as dust or loose hair will build up on it and could cause irritation to the dog's skin.Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for a variety of training applications.

I have a Border Collie Australian Shepherd Mix. I bought both the medium and the large as I wasn't sure what size to get, even with the measurements. The medium fit my dog well. It was easy to get on, seems comfortable. He only slightly paws at it but he was not able to get it off. If you buy milkbone mini treats, its a good tool to help get them used to it. Plus lots of "good boys" to reinforce positive behavior. They are able to chew the mini treats with the muzzle on. He can breathe comfortably and still get his mouth open enough to drink water. My only issue is that I had to pay $6 in return shipping for the large, so beware if you buy both sizes to test out which works better, you'll end up losing some money. Overall I'd recommend this product though!

It took my dog about 5 minutes before he used his paw to loosen the hook & loop strap cinching the muzzle. He then slid the bottom of the muzzle portion in his mouth and chewed completely through the strap underneath. We went through 2 of these in 1 month. Overall, the quality is good. But, the design did not work for my dog.

This is the second muzzle I have ordered for my dogs. The other was slightly less expensive but the design is exactly the same with a slight difference in the fabric but not enough to discredit either. This one has slightly more fabric/velcro area compared to the other brand but it works out well for me. The other, since has less velcro area, works well for my Shih Tzu mix and smaller snout circumference. This one is perfect for my other Terrier mix who has a regular snout size so I was able to have more velcro adherence around her snout. I like the option of being able to choose from 3 different colors which makes it easier to identify which muzzle goes to which pup when you have multiple pets in household. The muzzle is easy to adjust and is well made. When I initially put it on my pups, they suddenly become quiet and just lay down. I am thinking over time when they adjust, they won't even mind having it on but when they try to bark, it will be just enough to get their attention and hopefully quiet them down again. My little pup is more aggressive when strangers are in my home until they become familiarized so I would be reluctant to trust the fabric of this style. For that I have a more secure basket-style muzzle. I mainly will use these to deter excessive barking as they both like to look out the front window during the day and when anyone walks by, they go crazy so I will try using this muzzle more for that. Overall it's a great little muzzle that doesn't appear to cause discomfort to the pups but reminds them why they are being worn. I am in the training phase of quashing the barking and most times, if they suddenly go crazy barking, all I do is show them the muzzle and they suddenly quiet down. Bottom line: For the price and a trainable method to deter excessive barking, it is well worth it.

The muzzle is strong enough to support the dog during bad behaviours that you have the muzzle on the dog for. It is soft enough the dog doesn't get hurt. It allows panting and drinking so can be worn for a reasonable length of time.
