I used this to thread 1/2 galvanized pipe. Cut very well and got the job done. I used plenty of oil and after cutting a few threads I would reverse and clean out the shavings. This method seem to work better than forcing my way through cutting all the threads. Comes in a storage case that works. I will definitely use this as long as teeth are sharp on the cutter heads. Next project thread some 3/4 inch

No instructions, but if you are somebody who knows you need one, you can figure it out. After you cut pipe to length, grind the outside, a lot, so the threader can get a grip. Little black knob gets turned around to reverse ratching. You will need a long pipe wrench to hold the pipe you are threading, and a cheater pipe. And a cheater pipe to put on the handle of the threader. When you are done, you will feel like you have done something. Appears durable. Modest price. Try getting a plumber to come to your house to thread a pipe; not a chance. Even if you only use it once before you loan it to your brother in law, it is worth the price.

Update... I have now had these a while and used them multiple times. They are performing very well and I could not be more pleased. Very good value and they are tough. These are just what I needed for the pipe I was using. Did a great job.

WOW Using 1 1/4" pipe. The die threads with this thing were horrible. Couldn't get it to cut decent threads. Used lots of cutting oil and made sure to turn it a little at a time and , stop go backwards a little and clean out the metal shavings and proceed another 1/4 turn. Sent it back

Kit looks good. From reviews of similar imported sets, I had modest expectations for how durable this would be. My priority use case is threading HDPE pipe and this kit was the least expensive way to get the 1.25†die. It works well for that. Look forward to trying the smaller sizes on galvanized pipe.

Purchased to see how they would fair for a job chasing threads. You need to examine the cutting dies before use. Some are good and some or awful. This is why there are mixed reviews on how well they work. Examining the cutters, 3 of the 6 will never cut a decent thread. The other 3 will cut threads, but the quality will be low. If you are fortunate to get good cutters you have a chance of this working. Make sure the teeth are even and test fit a pre-threaded pipe to make sure the alignment is good. This is a great value if the size you need is in good shape. I would have kept if some of the cutters were not jacked up. The jacked up cutters are a little obvious. A little better quality control and these might have been a decent DIY set to have.
