Works best in packed dirt, not so much in looser soil, but that's to be expected. I planted 104 bulbs this year and it never failed.

Works fine for most soils. Don't use in hard packed soil or the ends will bend.

I grow seedlings in 2" soil blocks and this is perfect for making holes in my garden to transplant them, if you make soil blocks this is for you!

This is one best purchases for gardening I have done. I can get a great hole now than I have ever done with a regular trowel, spade or shovel. It is also so much easier to grip and handle. All you have to do is place where you want the bulb twist and voila. Definitely recommend especially if you have any carpal tunnel, or arthritis this is amazing.

I bought this for my dad to use in the garden. Works great on soft soil. I press it open, dig in, then release. The soil is trapped and leaves the desired hole. Very satisfied.
