A little sharp but a took a little steel wool to it before I touched my guitar with it. Be advised. Ruler is cool, but not as unnecessary and useless as the 3 inch microfiber cloth. Less than 8 dollars. I can’t complain.

This is unsatisfactory for a 24 fret neck. Good for a 24.75" 22 fret neck and a stratocaster neck.

What I liked about this straight edge is that it is made of steel, not aluminum, so it has some weight to it, but not so much that it too heavy. It's also about 0.075" so it is thick enough to not be wobbly. When the edges are ground flat, it will stand on it's edge on a flat surface, but not on a fretboard. The edges are sharp, however, so as delivered one has to be very careful working with it on an expensive guitar. What I don't like about it is that one of the edges was not flat. As you can see if the photos, one edge is concave about 0.008" (measured). The other edge was dead straight/flat. The photos were taken on my table saw's flat surface, but I also have a certified granite flat that showed the same results. Plus, even if the table saw was not flat (it IS!), one side was flat and the other side concave when measured at the exact same spot on the TS, so the tool is not accurately machined. It's very difficult to get a fretboard dead straight, or to whatever bow you prefer, with a concave straight edge! The good news is that it took me all of 10 minutes with my granite flat and some 600 grit wet/dry paper to flatten the bad edge (magic markers confirmed the concave edge). I then eased the edges and corners just a bit so the tool would be not as sharp or dangerous near guitar surfaces. Even so, one still has to be careful with this tool around delicate guitar surfaces.Since flatening an edge is fairly easy if you have a dead flat surface to work on (and no, a desk or piece of glass is not a reliable flat surface), and have appropriate abrasive papers at hand, I am satisfied with the product. But, as sold, these cannot be relied upon as a proper measuring tool to set a fretboard. Be prepared to first measure the sample you receive and then flatten it properly before using this tool.

The notched straight edge is great for the money! Very solid, and accurate. Great value! The string action ruler, however... isn't a selling point. It's completely useless! I still give 5 stars for the Straight edge.

This thing is absolutely awful! The edges had no smoothing applied and they appear to be stamped. This means the sides have VERY sharp edges that will scratch your fretboard. Not maybe - I'll guarantee it.If they had only smoothed the edges it would have been useful. The thread gauge card is also pretty lame as no explanation is given as to whether you use the bar as a match, or a high bar, and what the heck is the little arrow for? To top it off low and high are meaningless without numbers.Junk.

It arrived with a slight bend in the metal, which isn't great when trying to use it to measure how straight your guitar neck is, but after fixing straightening it out- it does the job. The edges are pretty sharp and the metal is thick, so that was no easy task. Overall a somewhat disappointing experience but at least I was able to make do with it. I'd recommend buying a more properly made one though.

Not very happy with this purchase at all. Not sure if it was just my order but after receiving I quickly realised that this “Straight Edge†wasn’t straight at all. I’ve tested on numerous flat surfaces and it’s easy to tell that the straight edge was bent/ curved. Considering that main use for this is to level a guitar neck I can confidently say that this will NOT DO THE JOB. Soooo.... if you are as unfortunate as me and still wanted to actually use this product these are steps I had to take after purchasing this “Straigbt edgeâ€:1) Cut a long piece of fine sand paper (I used 320 grid) around 22-24 inches.2) Find a completely flat surface such as (workshop top/ computer desk, table surfaces etc)3) You’ll need to get some masking tape, masking tape works best as it’s the easiest to use for the following steps.4) a] Stick a long piece of masking tape on the back of the sand paper piece which you’ve cut in sept 1 b] Stick another long piece of masking tape on your flat surface making sure that it’s pretty much the exact the same length as the sand paper c] Use superglue! Poor some glue and the masking tape of either the sand paper or your flat surface and stick them two together d] The reason why I’ve used masking tape rather then double sided tape is because masking tape can stay completely flat which is important if you want to correctly level a guitar neck.5) Okay so if you thought that this was already a hassle then you’ll be very happy to know that this step is by far the longest... yes you can finally grab you “straight edge and sand down both side until they actually are completely levelled.6) Now you’ll finally have a straight edge that looks completely wonky but is actually levelled and good to go.I’m not saying this will happen to everyone but if it happened to me then I’m sure there are other people out there who have received these curved straight edges and potentially could have cause damage to the guitar neck by no being able to figure out why it doesn’t seem to work.Wow this is a long one

Guitar notches have sharp edges. Require filing down a bit. Apart from that it is OK.
