Voltage is variable unstable good voltage weld one time next time too high next time too low at a 10 you might get too good spot Wheels mine came scratch stuff and look like it's been used, 1st time chagrin got hot and smelt like rotten eggs . Charge port lose and very very disappointing

So, Sparky, you're looking to put more excitement in your new year? What better way than to spot-weld a few of those Lithium-based batteries that have reputations involving such things as car fires and plane crashes? Yes, I am cautious when it comes to batteries whether they be lead-acid, Lithium or otherwise. Regardless, there have been a few times when I would have appreciated the ability to replace a cell or two in a battery pack. This little welder was ordered for the next time. The welder arrived in 6 days. Which, according to the estimated delivery date, was right on time.It was nicely packaged in a cellophane-wrapped box with its spare parts and charging cable inside two small boxes which served as spacers to keep the welder snugged down during transit.Coincidentally, it requires one of those 'lethal Lithiums' to power its operation. However, it is built-in and not spot-weldable. This tool appears to be quite flexible in that it has 99 level settings which allow the user to select the correct intensity for the materials involved.I agree with another reviewer who mentioned the small, and not so easy to read, display. It is a compromise given the overall size of the device. But, that white-on-yellow pre-heat section (lower right) comes very close to falling into the useless category. Some uses of the display might be termed "I think that's the setting I wanted." However, once it is setup and working for a particular material/circumstance, the display should be less important.

This item overall works, and is easy to use, I did notice a couple things I am not a fan of about it though. For starters, unfortunately the two little electrodes stick out at a fixed angle and that angle cannot be adjusted without manually bending the electrodes, which isn't something I really want to try, I wish they could be adjusted because by default the gap at the tip of the electrodes where you touch your work surface to perform your weld is just a little bit too wide to work for most of my AA battery options, and since that's probably one of the most frequent use cases for a tool like this, definitely have to subtract some major points for it not being able to do it. Other than that I noticed that after fully charging it and leaving it for a week or so before use, the battery charge level had noticeably dropped again when I tried to use it, so - that is more or less typical of most electronics, not really taking points away for that, just want to mention that maybe the best way to use this would be to charge it up the day before you know you have a lot of batteries to do, and do them all that day, rather than trying to keep this device charged up as it'll definitely discharge itself over time.

I'm new to making my own battery packs so am still learning how to properly use this spot welder. No complaints so far!

Every other spot welder I have used to assemble battery packs was a 3 piece unit with a central module and two probes, similar to a multimeter. This unit is much handier since everything is self contained. The screen is a bit dim and some color choices are suspect, but overall it works well. I actually would think inclusion of a voltage measurement feature would be a plus, although it would require an extra ground wire.

This little battery spot welder is okay overall, but I’ve had a few issues getting it to work just right. Sometimes it seems to struggle with consistent welds, but I’m not sure if it’s the device or me still figuring out the settings and technique. When it works, it does a solid job, but it can be a bit hit or miss. It’s not bad, just takes some patience to really get the hang of.
