I've started doing some more welding and light fabrication so I got these to see if I like using them to mark up my pieces. They leave a mark that is easy enough to see, yet wipes off without much effort. For my use, this seems easier than using a marker and then either wiping with a solvent to remove it, or grinding the marks off later.This set is a great value, in my opinion, with 3 pen-like holders that have a soap-stone in them and an additional 12 spare soap-stone refill sticks. Since I weld at work and home, this set let's me bring 1 holder and a few spare soap-stones to each place and still have a spare for when I eventually lose one.

Show up well on steel and aluminum. Does rub off fairly easily, but is visible even while using the cutting torch which makes it great for marking cuts

Soapstone rights real smooth on rusty metals. Not very good on oily metals. The set should last a long time I really like this set up.

A really nice set. It comes in a foam line box to protect the soap-stones from breaking. The holders hold the soap-stones firmly.

I like these soapstone markers from the JOYFUL & HOPEFUL Store. They work pretty well for marking patterns on metal to be cut or welded (see photo). I also like that the shipping box can be used for storage in my welding supplies drawer and it stores three holders, each loaded with soapstone, and six spare soapstones. I took one star of my rating because one of the of the metal holders would not tighten up enough to hold the soapstone in place. Still, I would recommend this and would buy it again.

I love that these soapstone markers are round and come with metal tube holders. The kit comes with 3 metal holders and replacement soapstones. The older type that I have used in the past were rectangular like a construction pencil and would often break when using. These are easier to use and less risk of breaking. Recommend.
