I was very pleased with these stocking holders. I looked for a long time and read many reviews before purchasing these, and I really could not be more pleased. Our mantel is 4†thick with a flat front (no step down). My old stocking holders held the stockings empty but could not hold them once filled. These held full stockings all night after Santa filled them, until morning. They are attractive without interfering with your other holiday decor.

We moved to a new home this year and I needed a non-nail, no marring product to hang stockings. This is PERFECT. No damage to my just-painted home, looks very elegant.

These are just lovely, and very sturdy. However, they are pretty huge. The stockings will hang quite low, which might be a good thing if you over-stuff the gifts at the top of the stockings. However, consider that, depending on the length of the hanging loop on the stockings, it could look a little awkward, especially if your fireplace and mantle are on the smaller side. Consider also that the lower you hang the stockings, the more you expose them to a fire, if you intend to fire up the fireplace. Typically we don't do that while stockings are hanging, for just that reason. Anyway, they'd be perfect for a tall mantle or a very large one.

We have a thick, rustic, wood beam mantle and to complicate things, only about 5 inches of room above it before our TV gets in the way, so finding stocking holders was a nightmare. All of the kinds that hook under the mantle lip didn't work because our beam was too thick. The ones that sit on top and are typically cast iron, or a rod that you can put all of your stockings on, were too tall to fit with our TV. These were the only ones I could find that worked with our fireplace and I imagine they could work for nearly all fireplaces. For practical purposes I was going to buy them for this reason alone but I was relieved upon receiving them that they are also good quality and attractive. When stockings are empty they can swivel at the slightest touch and not look perfectly straight, but we had no issues setting them up or with them falling. And if you don't touch them, they stay straight. Once the stockings are full they don't budge and they can hold quite a bit of weight.

These stocking hooks should work with almost any mantel shape. Mine is brick. There are 2 to 3 inches between where the ledge at the top ends and where the inset area begins. The lower curl of the top can sit on the mantel and the large scroll shape comes up and around that brick allowing the wight of the stocking to hang on the bottom curl, directly below the only point where the hanger actually touches the mantel. It is genius and pretty.I looked at the pictures of many stocking hooks and could see I was going to have a problem. For those other hooks to work they needed the top edge of the mantel to be immediately followed by an inset area, so the top was a thin ledge. Without that the stockings would have pulled them over. Those might work on some mantels, but not mine.

We purchased these stocking holders because we now have a tall 2.5 year old that periodically wants to pull down her own stocking for a look. Now if she does that, these are lightweight and won’t hurt her when they come off from her pulling. The heavy traditional holders were super dangerous. I was worried these wouldn’t hold any weight but they totally did! Our full stockings stayed on the mantel all night long on Christmas Eve.

These are awesome! I'm so happy that I didn't have to put nail holes in my mantel or be struggling to get glue off now! They work very well, even when the stockings are empty. A key thing to remember however, is when you are filling the stockings, you should take the stocking off of the mantel - they will swing side to side and possibly fall off. But really, it's not a downfall, just an instruction for use!

I wouldn't overload these with anything really heavy, but they worked very well for 7 people's stocking (with gifts) this Christmas, and they looked beautiful. A new yuletide favorite for our family!

These stocking holders did the trick, even with the stockings filled with heavy items. Only complaint is they're a bit wobbly, so once they're up you have to I be careful not to bump them
