I have a dial test indicator, and I wanted to tram my CNC machine to make sure the spindle is perfectly square with the bed.This holder worked perfectly. I used a 1/4" collet to hold the dial test indicator in the spindle.The holder is pretty long, my CNC machine has an 80 mm Z depth, so it fits fine. But if your CNC machine has a low Z depth then this holder is probably too long and won't fit.

I bought two of these because my son and I both work in the same machine shop and after he hit his test indicator with a dead blow hammer and broke his old stem I figured I should probably have a spare too. This stem exceeded my every expectation, and was a million times better than the OEM equipment on most test indicators. I would suggest buying a couple of these to replace the factory one they come with your indicator. I wish I would have bought one of these 10 years ago before I needed it. Overall great product!

I had to file out the vee slot in order to fit my dial indicator. The surface finish of the ball and socket is to rough and fit of the threads is not precise.
