The tool and included rivnuts are all good, and great value for the price. One word of caution is that it'll be too long if you're using it inside shallow locations, for example inside of a 1" square tube. The tool bottoms out long before it can get the nutsert into place in those situations. I was able to get around this by stacking a bunch of washers between the hex nut bearing and the allen head, but seems like it'll be a common problem so I wish they would have included a few spacers to be used in shallow locations.I installed using an electric drill, slowly, with the clutch set low enough to keep it from overtightening. It was very easy to feel when the right right stopping point was.The plastic box is complete junk and doesn't give you any long-term organization. I would have gladly paid a little more for a nicer box with dividers for everything.

Below are tips I have learned from using this tool. Related to smaller size M4 and below.Installation process:1. Grip the large nut with a wrench. Hold the wrench to prevent the large nut from rotating. The large nut has a bearing inside to prevent the rivnut from rotating during the tightening process.2. Thread the rivnut onto the bolt. Get it finger tight. Finger tight will be the starting point for step #3.3. Use an allen wrench (or equivalent tool) to tighten the bolt 2.0-2.5 full turns (720-900 degrees).4. Done.Exceeding 2.5 turns will result in:- Bolt breaking- Head stripping- Warped threads from too much upward pressure inside the rivnut.Recommended add-ons:- Extra strong socket head bolts. McMaster item 91290A176 has grade 12.9 steel. Treat the M4 bolts as a consumable item. Need to replace an M4 bolt every 5-10 rivnuts. One can pull the old bolt out of the large nut's bearing fairly easily.- Wiha 71397 hex bit set has excellent tolerances to prevent cam-out. Make sure to have a socket wrench that fits the Wiha bits. The socket wrench will provide enough leverage when tightening the 2.0 - 2.5 turns. Additional info:- I wanted to find an M4 bolt with a hex head (instead of a socket head). A hex head bolt (tightened with a regular socket head driver) could handle the torque much better than a tiny hex insert bit. Unfortunately I couldn't find an M4 hex head bolt with high strength steel.- Do NOT use an impact driver on smaller M4 sizes! Need to hand tighten M4 sizes. I broke so many M4 bolts with an impact driver.- Other reviewers have pictures of broken bolts. This was from tightening past 2.0-2.5 turns.- Using the steps above will work with stainless steel rivnuts. Don't need to get brass, although I'm sure brass is a little more forgiving.- Overall, I am impressed with the tool. The stepper drill bit included in the box was a big help also.

I have never used rivet nuts before, so I chose this kit because it has almost everything needed to use them, (you have to supply an open end wrench and an allen type wrench). It arrived with the plastic case badly broken and unusable. More importantly the step drill bit shown in the picture goes up to 13mm which is needed to install the largest rivet nuts in the set. My set had a bit with a maximum size of 12mm. I returned the set and promptly received a replacement but the second set also had a 12mm max. drill bit. I know from experience that when you drill thin material with a twist drill bit, where you can't back it up with a scrap of wood, you will probably end up with a jagged, irregularly shaped hole. A step bit solves that problem. Amazon lists pages of step bits but I could only find 1 with a 13mm step and it cost as much as this entire set. I have a step bit with a 1/2 inch (12.7mm) step. I will practice on a scrap of sheet metal to see if I can get it to work, maybe with a bit of jiggling. On the same order when I bought this kit, I bought some eye bols with short studs. I want to install them on the inside wall of my truck as tie rings to attach bungie cords to. I would have rated this kit 5 stars if it had had the correct drill bit.

Easy to use just pop in the previous hole and it will tighten, cuts your labor in half the time of more.

I've used a few sizes now and these little tools actually work great. No giant, clunky, hard to use plier type too to have to lug around. They also easily stay in alignment, which is harder to do with plier type tools. Also, if the threads get worn or stripped in the future, I can simply grab another bolt of the right thread size and use it. Another great feature is that there is a bearing on the inside, which should help it last a long time.

Bought this back in Aug 2023 in anticipation of mounting my thickness planer to a Husky tool cart.Fast forward to March 2024 and I used the 3/8-16, M6 and M8 components.Everything worked great including the metric step drill. The M6 was used to relocated the handle to the other end and the M8 to reset the existing loose rivet nuts that secured the casters (I had to move the swiveling casters to the end I moved the handle to). The 3/8 was for 3/8-16 bolts to secure the planer to the cart. The included rivet nuts worked great and are steel (checked with a magnet).Very happy with the results though I would look at a bolt cutter style Rivet Nut tool if I was going to do more volume.Note you will also need a metric hex (Allen) key set and an adjustable wrench to tighten the tool to set the rivet nut.
